I still get the occasional "bendy phone" comments every so often when in reality, I've had my 6 Plus since initial release and even fell asleep on it as I was listening to some music. A entire night later of my shoulder blade on top of my iPhone (how it got under me is a mystery as it was on my chest).

My 6 Plus is still perfect and without a single sign of being bent at all. What I feel about this is some isolated issues went viral and thus, "#bendgate" was born. There are plenty of Apple haters out there just waiting for any negative press to pour fuel on the fire and in turn, making money off all the YouTube views and ad revenue by simply beating a dead horse.

Negative press is more popular than positive, the very same reason most people get glued to the television watching a news broadcast of a police chase or some other issue. It's attention grabbing as well as profitable. :apple:

Nah, just when anyone makes a post here everyone gives them hate saying it's their own fault.

Rediculous reductionism strikes again. That's an inaccurate description of what happens. Instead what happens is that one side is slightly dismissive and the other is slightly defensive. That turns into an orgy of reactionary flaming on both sides that has very little to do with reality.

It's a trade off, you can't have everything. Nor can you expect a thin phone to be rugged. If it bends you just buy another.

there is no issue.

don't sit on your phone or attempt to bend it and it won't bend.

i bet you i can take my mint 6+ and leave it on my table for the next 20 years and it won't bend

The 6 series is more prone to bending though. I bent an iPhone 5S trying to take off a speck candyshell case. I couldn't imagine the 6/6+ not bending if applying small force trying to take a case off if its snug.

It isn't an issue that people hate them. People just point out
that the phones don't bend by themselves.

Funny people say "my phone bent" as opposed to "I bent my phone".

If people think that is "hate" then they are way too sensitive.

Doesn't work that way if it is a defect.

Those are the cases I used for a long time and I know exactly what you are talking about.

I think there were a few rare cases and it got overblown. And it is possible that some were done on purpose. I don't see myself taking any special care with my case-less 6+. Even after a few drops, only a few scrapes. it's pretty darn sturdy!

Sure it works that way

Unless you think that a phone is supposed to not bend no matter what the user does. Oh wait, that's not a phone it is the iBrick.

Seems the bending issue died down after the release of 8.1.

That is probably not a coincidence.

You mean competitors/fanboys spreading FUD(fear uncertainty doubt)...yep

do you have proof it is a defect? Someone forcibly bending a phone isnt proof

It would be nice if a site pulled a latest production phone and subjected it to a controlled bending test once a week so we could all know when Apple's silent fix, whatever it is, has been implemented.

I think what really happened was that the phone pre production was being tested with sapphire screens, which added stiffness, and when the sapphire didn't materialize for production phones, Apple was caught with their pants down. I'd guess also the silent fix will be a stiffer and more springy aluminium alloy.

Seems that way. Why do you think? The "bad batch" is done with? People don't bother to make a fuss now?Or are people just being extra careful now that they know its more fragile than other phones?

(I think that's what I'm doing)

Oh, and you're welcome for bringing this up again. I'm sure you're all thrilled.

To be honest, there was NEVER a bending thing. It was 8-9 you tubers posting pics and videos of iPhones they'd bent on purpose. As any phone will either bend or break when pressure is applied, this is a non-issue.

Look at it this way - the iPhone 6/6 Plus are not the first phones to fail to be indestructible. :)

www.oneofthenine.com - new cases added daily, sadly.

Nope.

There is no "proof" of a defect until Apple comes out and recalls, which is not going to happen. These phones bend in pockets though.... plain and simple. That to me is not a forcible bend.

You keep your head in the sand there. Still quoting that one of the nine, huh?

Other phones don't twist or bend as easily as the iPhone 6, it has been proven over and over again. I have a Note 1 right here I don't care about and tried. That thing bounces right back.

Again, if you baby your phone and don't care if it bends, then good for you, the iPhone 6(+) is a great purchase. But it is an issue to people who want a resilient phone and are disappointed this is the offering we have with Apple this round.

I have no doubt the 6S(+) will improve it though, just like Antennagate.

It bends in pockets? Who said that? So why hasnt it happened with my 6 that I have owned for 2 months, and now Plus that I have owned for over 2 weeks then?

Why is there only not even a few hundred reports on this then? With most of the "bend pictures" looking like the phone got completelt demolished and someone forcibly bending the phone for the casing to burst open from the glass

I can snap your Note 1 in half if I forcibly bended it, does that mean someone is gonna be going up to your phone and forcibly bending it? No.

Theres been reports of Sony Xperia Z3's having bent frames, but I wonder why Sony gets no publicity on that hmmmm. Maybe because Sony and most of these OEM's are really irrelevant to Apple and that Apple is literally so much bigger then most of these OEM's they will never get the publicity and fame like Apple does, no other company in the world has to deal with as much FUD as Apple
