Given the number of folks (apparently anal retentive)who've posted that they check their devices regularly I dont find it surprising that the reports continue to come in. Some of the "tests" which are conducted border on the ridiculous and are hilarious.

I've had my device for about three weeks and I have yet to inspect it for bending. It looks fine, works great. I can't say that I have any need to examine it in great detail, nor am I going to obsess about it.

The scrutiny to which Apple products are subjected always brings about some petty crap.

iPhone 4/4S cracked glass hysteria went away

iPhone 5/5S bending silliness faded

This bending nonsense shall too pass.

Yet just because people stop posting new threads doesn't mean it isn't happening anymore. Although likely if it is possible without major design changes Apple will quietly modify the case of the iPhone to fix it.

All technology, not just Apple. They are not a targeted victim here. Devices are constantly scrutinized for stuck pixels, dust, gaps, inconsistencies, deformities, etc, etc. The techie crowd wants near perfection for a high cost device. If you can just brush it off and not care, more power to you. But other people want better than that and they have every right as a consumer to do so. (Although I don't side with folks who do multiple returns. if it doesn't work for you once, move to something else).

Again, not Apple specific here. But everyone seems to think Apple has some special target. They are not that special anymore.

Exactly man! So uncommon to put a phone in your pocket....what was everyone thinking?? Are most Apple users just dumb??

No not dumb, some just didn't have the presence of mind that they were putting weight and pressure on a somewhat fragil device. This is not rocket science.

Right, because Apple, or any manufacturer, would make changes to their design based on 9 people who managed to bend their phones.

I bet they also changed the case to deal with the complaints about "hairgate" and also changed the internals because of the complaints about the ortengie thermal ratio of 1.21 being below what people wanted to keep their hands cool while using the phone for over 4.2 hours per call, while surfing the web and playing angry birds.

Uh, chances are very good it's not happening anymore.....not that I believe all of the hyperbole posted anyway. But for you to say that means you have very limited experience on MacRumors. People come here to complain about Apple employees changing their shirt colors or doing their hair in a different fashion. This forum complains about anything Apple as much as they can even when it makes zero sense. So IF there's more bending phones there will be more complaints. But like I said I'm not sure how true most of it was. I think most of it was hyperbole.

Or people go, and see that lots of people have posted about it and trolls just attack them for it so they give up. Plus the early adopters who are going to notice it quicker since they check their phones every day.

first of all, no phone company's phone bends at weak point with just 23 lb of force.

and secondly, car companies routinely recall millions of cars becase on single-digit reported issues. why can't Apple do it?

No car company routinely recalls millions of cars because of user error. Did you also expect a recall after "hairgate". That has more of a safety issue because after someone's hair gets pulled out, they may wind up with an infection, which could lead to losing their head if they get one of those nasty drug resistant infections.

If the car company finds an actual problem, they will issue a recall, and, for anything related to customer safety, the err on the side of caution. Those potential costs are modeled into the overall cost for the car and the services.

What about the stuck accelerator pedal issue on some Toyota's a few years ago? If I recall correctly, that was just a few isolated instances.

Oh so for the people that don't belieive them you call them trolls? . Ridiculous. I just love how you have no proof people are telling the truth, (espcially when most of them were reluctiant to show pics or any real proof) yet you become their defensive lineman. This is the internet for goodness sake. Hey, since you're in the mindset of believing everything you read on the web, I live in the White House and I am President Obama.

A phone bending in a pocket is not user error.

It can't bend in the pocket by just being in the pocket. Body movement creates the bend and furthermore if that were true anyone would feel the pressure of their phone jabbing them in their upper leg before any real bending would occur. If the person goes on to ignore the jabbing and the phone results in being bent then it IS user error.

Other phones don't bend in your pocket even when you are moving so no it isn't user error, it is either a design flaw or s bad batch of iPhones that came from one of the factories.

Other phones? Which ones? Like the 4s? Well that's much smaller. Oh do you mean like the Note 4? Well, there's been no official video of someone showing the iPhone bending in their pocket from normal use so your "other phones" comment makes no sense.
Everything people buy requires the owner to use some common sense. Sure, you can go on and blame the manufacturer for every mistake you make, but then you're refusing to accept any responsibility as an adult and an owner. Let's all blame the tumbler manufacturers every time we break a glass.

When the iPod Nano had the screen scratching issue (when people placed the Nano in their pocket it immediately scratched the screen with absoultely no force on the user) that was something Apple was defintiely responsible for since there was no way for the consumer to avoid this if they wanted to keep the iPod in their pocket, and Apple replaced every single one of them on recall and fixed the iPod screens.

These new phones are big and if you are going to accept force in your pocket jabbing your leg and the phone bends, it's caused by the customer.

And speaking of "Other Phones". There was a poster that liked Android but asked about getting an iPhone. I told him to get the Note 4 because it best fit his needs. He replied saying he did not want it because his dad has one and they are known for overheating. Well "Other Phones" (such as the iPhone 6 Plus) don't overheat. See, how silly that sounds, comparing issues between one phone to another? Grass is not greener on the other side.

That is covered under what I said, an actual issue, and with safety at risk, acting on an abundance of caution.

I really love how people make it sound like the phone is bending by itself when put in a pocket.

The phone will bend when a user exerts enough pressure to bend it. Period. That is user error. If that wasn't the case, there would be millions, if not 10s of millions of phones being returned. That is not the case.

It is hilarious how people talk about their thighs acting as a fulcrum causing the bend, yet, they don't notice that there is that much pressure on their thighs and they must have rock-hard thighs to so not give at all under pressure.

Why do you care so much if someone bends their phone and takes it back? Leave it to the consumer and Apple to judge what to do from there. If I had a stuck pixel, would you blame it on me too? Did I push the screen to hard? If I get dust under the screen is that my fault.... too much pocket sand?

Using the automobile analogy - if the windshield in my car was cloudy and grainy due to defective safety glazing in the glass, I'd expect the manufacturer to replace it - that's a manufacturing defect. If I had a bent fender because I ran into a pole in a parking lot, that's not a manufacturing defect - that's my fault because I hit a pole in a parking lot.

I don't care if they take it back after bending it and apple agreeing to replace it.

But it is dishonest and unethical for people to claim "my phone bent" and make claims about "normal usage" or defects near the screw, or mistakes in the forging of the aluminum, or other claims that people have made, rather than just saying "I bent my phone".

I would blame a stuck pixel on you since you seem to complain about a lot of things in general. For other people, it is more logical that a stuck pixel is a variance in the quality of the screen. But a stuck pixel is not even close to some of the ridiculous claims of "my phone bent" when it is clear from how much it has magically bent, that it was user error.

You must admit though, the shirts they force Apple Store employees to wear it's DREADFUL. I cringe and nearly wet myself even thinking about seeing that nasty color ever again.
