According to your sig, you want the 7200, which an apple store will not carry. Other than that, yes you can go pick up the same computer you are waiting for but with a 5400 rpm drive.

I did not finish my spec list. I actually ordered exactly what you have. So I doubt anyone would have that.

Nope. But at this point Im heavily considering cancelling my order, getting the 5400 at the apple store, and using the $50 to get a drive somewhere else to install and then get to keep the 5400 that came with the computer as an external....

Is a HDD something the user can install w/out voiding warranty? Or do I have to have Apple do it? And if so will any certified Apple shop do?

Replacing the HDD does not void the warranty. Only thing that changes is that Apple's warranty won't cover the new HDD, but it has it's own manufacturer's warranty so you are safe.

Go to ifixit.com for manuals/HowTo's. If you go to a certified shop you will get ripped off for the labor.

11:46 AM in Shanghi, China

Still not yet shipped and tomorrow is day 7 for me.......

I'm in the same boat as you buddy, and I ordered 12 hours earlier than you on the 20th.

Keep the faith! You'll wake up tomorrow morning and it'll be in transit I'm sure... :)

I enjoyed seeing other folks' posts about their MBP transit time, so, here's mine. All times local to scan. 2-3d Delivery. If I'm reading other MBPs transit times, I think mine might actually arrive 1 day early.

Gonna go for the 5400?

I might go to my local "Apple Store" store tomorrow and see if they have what I want. I put Apple Store in quotes because it is just a small, hole-in-the-wall shop that is housed in what used to be a nail salon. I don't really like them because my last Apple computer purchase was from them and I was lied to by a salesperson about the intel chips being faster than the PPC PB. Thus my current 12" PB. Allthough I hear the first series of MBP's and MB's were not great. I'm pretty firm on the fancy-shmancy A/G screen, so if they have it I might go that route instead.

Sorry for the double post but, for those of us whose MBPs have not shipped everyone from here on out should tell us your purchase date, if it has shipped, that date, and once you get it that date.

Purchase date: 4/25
Ship date: ??
Arrival date: ??

I hope so lol, I wake up every morning and the first thing I do is check my order status. If it says prepared or shipped tomorrow morning it will be a good day haha..

That is how I feel but I am afraid I'll probably end up waiting until early next week before that message changes over to shipped or prepared for shipping. You have 5 days on me.

I ordered 2 personally... I have received the NON CTO 15" i5 2.4 but am still waiting shipping info on the 15" i7, HR G, 512GB SSD model... Projected delivery of May 5-10

I think it will! I just got a shipping notice from Apple and a FedEx tracking number!

Delivery expected on Monday. It's gonna be a long weekend...

I'm new to the forum, but it's nice to see I'm not the only one stalking my shipment! I ordered my MBP i5 15", anti-glare & 7200 HD on 4/22. Apple got it shipped out on the 26th(Shanghai time). On the tracking page it said it would be delivered on the 29th by 4:30 pm. Well it's my son's 5th Birthday tomorrow and we decided to take him to Legoland in Carlsbad. The Fedex machine worked so well that they delivered a day early! We won't be driving home until Saturday, so I have to wait an additional three days!

For everyone wondering about shipping.

Ok so heres all the details of my order and its shipping to help you guys see what the wait would be like.

I ordered a 15in High-res glossy i7 with 7200rpm hd. It was ordered the 19th of April before noon local time.

My status changed to prepared for shipment at around 10pm (our local time) on the 27th and it shipped from the factory around 3:13 am (our local time) on the 28th.

Keep in mind for BTOs: They ship from Shanghai and they are 12 hours ahead of my local time.
