Hopefully it'll arrive by tomorrow, otherwise I'll have to be real creative in finding a computer to use.
 
So I order last Wed and get the 5-7 day and FedEx doesn't fly to ANC on Mondays so there's zero chance I'll see mine before next Wednesday which puts it at the very last day of th timeline. Way to go Apple! My second computer in three weeks without getting either here even a day before the last day of your "guess".

Yes, I pre-signed only because a) my wife was home but b) is caring for our newborn and wouldn't necessarily be able to get to the door but could retrieve it relatively quickly...

I woke up around 7:20 am PST and it still said not yet shipped. I went back to sleep disappointed but later rechecked an hour later around 8:30 am and it says PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT!! Yay! :D

Paulpet, how long did it take to change from prepared - to - shipped? Hopefully 5-6 hours like tmiw says..
 
Everyone says "NO DEAD PIXELS."

Is that something I seriously have to look out for? Should I really be expected to accept a laptop with a screen that's NOT WORKING CORRECTLY?

What is that all about?

Every computer vendor has a different policy with dead pixels, but I don't believe any will by very eager to replace a laptop for one or two dead pixels.

I was "worried" about it only because it happened to me once before on a customized PowerBook and I had a hell of a time getting it replaced. It's one of those defects resulting from mass-production that i'm very sensitive about (I find I'll always stare at the dead pixel), but with others I don't really care too much. So I'm happy this one is pixel-perfect :)

Today is business day #7 for me..

Looks like people were right, it takes almost the full 7 days to ship and close to 2 weeks to arrive at your door.

Mine took about 12 hours, because I think the prepared to ship notice was given to fedex at 10pm and they didn't pick it up until around 10 am the next day at which point it entered the tracking system and I received a shipping notice.

What type of shipping are you using, standard or expedited? I'm praying for another expected delivery status update to see if it'll arrive by sometime tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

If you're referring to the UPS service type (reported on their tracking page), mine says Expedited. However, it's my understanding that Expedited simply means it's an international shipment.

If you're referring to the type of shipping I paid for on Apple's site, I chose standard.

Check your UPS tracking guys it just hit

and arrival date is back to the 3rd again.

youre right.. posted it changed to prepare to shipment last earlier this morning, and i woke up today and its shipped out. should be here by may 5th.. exactly the last day it said it would.

If they had departed yesterday I'm sure it would have made it to Toronto by Friday :(
