I placed an order for a 13" MBP on the 16th and it's currently showing:

Shipment exception
SHANGHAI CN

My guess is that they are just packing the FedEx 747 as I'm typing. Should be at my door by middle of next week.

great service!

JohnG

That's what I'm getting also on my 17".

Down on the history, I see "Package received after FedEx cutoff"
perhaps my new toy goofed off and ended up missing his ride to the States lol.

One better

i ordered a CTO 15inch

2.66 i7
500gb 7200rpm
hi res matte

not shipped yet
estimated delivery 16-22

I ordered a MBP 15" 2.53 250 HD w/High Rez Matte and wire prepaid on 04/09/10 then received the following message on 04/13/10.

Since your order has not shipped, we have upgraded it to the new 15-inch
MacBook Pro at no extra charge.

So now they're sending me a 2010 MBP 2.4 320 HD i5 w/High Rez screen.
If you thought you were anxious, mines not yet shipped and has a delivery date of 16-22.
I'm so exited I'm having heart palpitations. :O

I just went to "Prepared for Shipment" sometime in the last few minutes... yay!

MBP 15" 2.66GHz
Hi-Res Antiglare Display
Everything else standard (500GB 5400RPM, 4GB, etc)

Order Date: Apr 13, 2010 at 07:46 PM PDT

Ordered from the edu store. Shipping to the Boston area, originally ordered with standard shipping, upgraded by Apple yesterday evening to expedited for free.

Guessing it'll head out of Shanghai either tomorrow (via ANC) or Monday (via MEM)... so I guess I'll get it Mon or Tue if the former, Tue or Wed if the latter.

Bought my first Mac the day the new MBPs are announced. It's a i7 17" 8gb ram model. I just got an email saying that my item has been dispatched and "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly". Yet it is not expected to be delivered until May 5th?!

Can anyone explain to me what exactly is going on here?
anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks

Same Situation(s)

I ordered the 15 "i7/500gb/HR Glossy as well as a low end 13" for my girlfriend. Ordered the day they came out @ 730 PST. Here's the info, as I seem to be in the same boat as most of you...

i7: Apr 16, 2010 11:32 AM Left Fedex Origin Facility Shangai
EST Delivery (Michigan)- 12PM 4/20

13": Apr 16, 2010 2:30 PM Picked Up (Package Recieved After Cutoff)
EST Delivery (Same)- 12PM 4/21

The 13" also has the shipping exception tag, not really sure what that means... Hopefully mine is en route to the states...

From the other tracking data posted, "Left FedEx origin facility" just seems to mean it left the factory and is en-route to the airport. What's your timestamp on that? If it's after around 5PM on Apr 16, then I wouldn't count on it having gone out already. If it was on Apr 15 or much earlier in the day on Apr 16, I'd guess it's in the air... However, it could still go out tomorrow and easily make it to you by Tuesday (or Monday even.) In fact, it could go out on Monday and still make it to you on Tuesday, except that FedEx doesn't seem to operate either flight on Mondays! (This is why I'm baffled at the delivery estimates given, for packages that went out today...)

An "in transit" timestamp would confirm things. However, given that FDX90's data didn't show up until a couple hours after the plane took off, it's possible that those packages are in the air and the scan is just missing from what they show you... (Or it may have updated if it didn't show it earlier, or may update later.)

(Yes, I'm really bored right now, and generally quite obsessed with all things air travel-related... And I'm still "Not yet shipped", damnit!)

My history is as follows:
Apr 16, 2010 11:32am Left FedEx origin facility Shanghai CN
Apr 16, 2010 11:03am Picked up Shanghai CN
Apr 15, 2010 9:59pm Shipment information sent to FedEx

I went back and looked through other forums (here and elsewhere) to see examples of people posting the complete journey of products via FedEx from China. Not all had an "in transit" scan after the "left fedex origin facility". Also, the fedex origin facility is their facility (hence the fedex part), not the factory. The "picked up" scan at 11:03am Shanghai time was the leaving the factory.

So far, no one seems to have reported an "in transit" scan, so I would guess that today's shipment may be an example of one that doesn't get that scan for some reason (maybe when it's shipped as big bundle vs individual items?)

In any case, we'll know within a few hours after the plane lands in Alaska! :)

Hey, almost identical CTO, ordered 2 hrs before me; quoted 2 days later arrival (Canada?) but prepared now... I can only hope I am soon to follow. No advantage to living 10 miles away from Apple for CTO...

i think that only affect the delivery day, dont it?

Well, since they know they can't ship those out for a couple days (or probably even longer, I'm sure all the cargo carriers have a huge backlog of packages heading to Europe), they probably shunted a bunch of those European builds further down the queue. No point in building them and then having them just sit around, either at their warehouse, or at a UPS/FedEx site.

Much of Nothern Europe is still closed. Both Schiphol and Heathrow are currently stating that the earliest they'll re-open is in about 12 hours.

Unless the Volcano is affecting your delivery, Apple likes to make a really long order estimate so that you are either pleasently surprised or it arrives just on time. When I ordered my SR 2.2 MBP on release day it said I would receive it 3 weeks from ordering. I got it 4 days later. Sooo

I have reason to believe the closing of western European airspace does not affect shipping at all. A fellow dutchman has his order shipped already, which means the plane lands somewhere else in Europe. Maybe Germany?

Either way I'm starting to lose my patience. I placed my order at 6 pm on April 13, and it still says not shipped. The estimated delivery remains at 22-23 April.

At least one post reports an in transit scan. And yeah, I meant warehouse/FedEx site/whatever, not Apple's factory. :) Due to the volume and the short time between pickup and and left origin (as short as 10 minutes from other posts), I suspect they may be at the same location, though. I'm curious where that is and how far it is from the airport...from a bunch of searching, the only Shanghai-area Apple factory I could find information on is in Suzhou, which apparently makes iPods and is about 130km from the airport. However, people have posted scans of those, and they originate in Suzhou, not Shanghai...so wherever our MacBook Pros are being built is probably in Shanghai proper and closer to the airport.

(Amusingly, on my first attempt to map it, I used PVG as the destination... and it seems there's an airport in Virginia that has an FAA code of PVG, same as Shanghai's IATA code. Had to map to ZSPD to get the Shanghai airport. Google Maps provided me a 37 day journey from Suzhou, China to Virginia, including instructions to
"Jet ski across the Pacific Ocean - 782 km" from China to Japan, "Kayak across the Pacific Ocean - 6,243 km" from Japan to Hawaii, then get back in my kayak for 4436km over to WA. :))

According to FedEx's website, their European air hubs are in London, Paris, and Frankfurt...all currently closed. UPS (according to Wikipedia with no references) apparently uses London, East Midlands (near London, also closed), and Cologne (also closed.) Packages may be shipped, but most of them traveling around that area are just sitting at a warehouse or on a parked plane that can't go anywhere, either at the origin or somewhere in the middle...

It seems some of these European orders are being shipped UPS, but via the US. So those could ship out and just sit around the US for a couple days if there's no cargo capacity to Europe while they clear out what must be a pretty large backlog of packages by now.

So yes, air shipping into that area is definitely affected... However, it could be that some pre-built orders are shipping ground within a limited area in Europe, and those could be on schedule.

mine also stated ships within 1-3 working days..expected delivery 28th/29th april...do the products tend to be delivered sooner than expected?
