Ubercool, did you select expedited or standard shipping? I was upgraded to expedited and I would have thought that my MBP would be here by Tuesday if not Monday.

Yes, I paid for expedited shipping. I just looked at my calendar and realized that I will be leaving Hartsfield at 10a, so will miss the delivery by a few hours.:(

Hey Psychos.. any ideas on why FDX28 isn't showing as departed yet? It's past it's scheduled departure time by 2 hours now. The Memphis flight for today is also past it's scheduled departure.

I have the same expected delivery, I also got the 2nd in transit update from china.

From yesterday's posts on this thread, it seems that 2 "in transit" scans have occurred on other shipments that reached the US yesterday -- so hopefully this means our MBPs will arrive in the US today.

I would've thought our packages would be in Alaska by now, since there was a 12 1/2 hour time period between the first and second "in transit"

My arrival delivery time is still the 20th by 10:30.

how did you find out what flight # your computer was on? I saw the link to the site you have, how can i find that on my order?

There's no way to know what flight your package is on. However, as psychos researched yesterday, there's 1 FedEx flight a day from Shanghai to Anchorage, Tuesdays thru Saturdays. Also, if there was no "In transit" scan before yesterday's flight left, your laptop didn't make it on yesterday's flight to Anchorage -- however, everyone on this thread that had an "In transit" scan before or within a few minutes of the departure time of FDX28 yesterday, their packages did make it to Anchorage.

So I'm guessing, with two in transit scans, that my MBP will make it to Anchorage today based on how things went for people whose MBPs landed in Anchorage yesterday. I'd also guess that anyone without an "in transit" scan before 9am Eastern time today (9pm China time) probably didn't make today's flight to Anchorage -- which means Tuesday's flight would be the next one for them if the FedEx flight pattern on FlightAware is correct. (And based upon yesterday's FDX28 "tracking log", I think we won't know anything about today's flight until sometime over the next hour)

I'm also guessing we won't see any departure info on flights out of Shanghai until they contact an American control tower, which is an explanation as to why all flights from PVG to ANC appear to have not left several hours after their scheduled departure time. Flightaware technically doesn't cover anything outside the US, so it's understandable it may not have that data until they hit international or US-directed airspace.

That's what I'd guess too (see my post before this).. My laptop had those same scans yesterday and didn't get any "in transit" until about 18 hours later. FedEx is such a tease! :)

Mine Just Prepared To Shipment.. Yeeessss... Can Some Tell Me When Is It Goign To Get To The Us? What I Mean Is, Did The Us Airplane Depart Yet?

Mine changed from "Not Yet Shipped" to "Prepared For Shipment" somewhere in the last 8 hours or so.

I ordered mine on Wednesday. Posted signed finance docs same day freepost.
When I ordered it says 5 days shipping however Im not sure how long the finance will take. It still says under review.

What's everyone experience getting something on Finance. Is my mac reserved or will 5 days start from when Apple receive the money from apple finance??

Expedited shipped? Not hardly

I ordered my CTO 17" MBP Tuesday and received a shipment notice last night for a delivery date of the 21st (9 days after order, 6 days in transit).

I called Apple to get a refund for the $18 and was told they can't do that because...

1. Shipping is 2-3 BUSINESS days and my order will be delivered on the 21st which is only 3 business days (Mon-Wed) because I received my shipment notification late Friday night (doesn't count).

2. The volcano ash is causing delays and that isn't their fault.

3. It has already shipped expedited and they have already paid those costs.

They offered me a $15 off $100 coupon for my troubles. I told them I wanted a refund and they told me they flat out can't do that.

As much as I have appreciated Apple's customer service in the past this is pretty maddening.

Based upon others experience posted in this thread, here's the most likely outcome:

1) Will sit in "Prepared to ship" for up to 24 hours (maybe longer now that's it's the weekend)
2) Eventually you'll get notified that is has shipped, at which point you'll already see some tracking data via FedEx.. Usually you'll see "Shipment information send to FedEx", then "Picked up", and "Left FedEx origin facility".
3) It'll then stay at "Left FedEx origin facility" for up to another 24 hours
4) You'll get 1 to 2 (2 seems to be the current trend) "in transit" scans after over another 24 hour period.
5) After that, you'll get an arrival in Anchorage, then clearing of customs. Usually within 1 to 2 hours of the plane landing in Anchorage.
6) Beyond that point, it depends on where you live.

The bad news is, according to the research done by pyschos yesterday, the next Shanghai -> Anchorage flight isn't until 9pm Tuesday (China time, which is 9am Tuesday, Eastern time). It would arrive in Alaska around 6pm Eastern, then fly on to another hub (Memphis, Oakland, etc) and potentially delivered to you by Wednesday.

However, anyone who didn't make today's flight (which is unlikely if you don't have an "in transit" scan already), Wednesday would be the earliest possible delivery unless FedEx has another flight operating over the next 2 days that psychos didn't find (and he was very exhaustive in his research!)

For what it's worth.. here's my package's progress (15", i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD, expedited ship, ordered Tuesday 5:52am Pacific time)

I ordered this yesterday morning. I paid the extra $18 shipping which seems like a complete waste now.

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRM - 2X2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200

Product Qty. 1
MBP 17/CTO

Ships: 5 - 7 business days
Delivers: Apr 26 - Apr 30

Shpped!

MBP 15"
2.66GHz Intel Core i7
8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x4GB
128GB Solid State Drive
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 15"HR Antiglare WS Display

Left China 17th estimated delivery is the 21st, I paid for expedited shipping when I ordered and called to see if there was any expedited faster than 2-3, the woman said no but got the fee refunded without me even asking which was nice. I think if it was not coming all the way to the east coast i would have a better chance of Monday or Tuesday, but halfway around the world in 3 business days is not all that bad.

Based on what I've seen in this thread, the expedited shipping option is a sham. For example, I ordered within the first 30 minutes of the store coming back on-line, but yet other BTO orders similar to mine -- with standard shipping and that were placed after me -- have already made it to the states. Not to mention that the method Apple uses to get the laptops from China to the US is the "International Priority Direct Distribution" method from FedEx, which bundles big palettes of laptops together for lower shipping costs and quicker customs clearance. However, the one thing I've yet to see is once it hits the US if the "expedited" orders suddenly "go faster" -- but I doubt it. If they do, it's only a 1 day difference.

I think the fact that there really isn't any such thing as expedited from China is the reason why you can get the $18 refunded without even asking.

Woke up this morning to an email informing me that my 17" MBP has finally shipped. Original estimate for delivery was the 22nd to 27th of April, but I'm now being given an estimate of a delivery of the 5th of May. Damn you Icelandic Volcano!

Not unexpected though, just not best pleased by it.
