Woke up this morning to an email informing me that my 17" MBP has finally shipped. Original estimate for delivery was the 22nd to 27th of April, but I'm now being given an estimate of a delivery of the 5th of May. Damn you Icelandic Volcano!

Not unexpected though, just not best pleased by it.

I totally know how you feel. My MBP went from Not yet shipped to prepared for shipment and back to not yet shipped. I presume that this is due to the volcano as well (shipping destination in UK). MEANWHILE I am also struggling to get there after my easter uni break (flights cancelled mayhem).

This is not looking good.

BOOM!!!!

Ordered on 14th April, will be shipped on 17th April, received before 27th April. HAPPY DAYS!!!

:)

I'm in Atlanta. HOping not to see that date change to May 4 once status goes to shipped! Standard shipping.

Went to shipped by 10:30 a.m. EST, and is now In Transit, with delivery scheduled for 4/21. Mine was standard shipping, and has UPS info, not FedEx.

The Macbook Pro's on the way....a complicated way (in Europa)

RE. KOELN (COLOGNE), DE 04/17/2010 2:44 P.M. PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE[/QUOTE]

My MBP, ordered April 13th, (with destination Copenhagen) has apparently also by now arrived in Köln (Cologne), and I entirely share your view of admiring UPS that, under the prevailing circumstances (the volcano problem in the whole of the North European area), they have managed to get that far. However, due to the latest reports from the Danish Airport authorities, the Airport (Kastrup) of Copenhagen may, when writing this, - at the earliest - reopen for air-traffic Sunday morning at 08:00 A.M. A new evaluation of the effect of the volcano eruption in Iceland on the Air traffic is going to be pronounced at 9 p.m. Saturday evening.

In the light of this unfortunate situation, I wonder whether UPS, if the situations prevails through Sunday, may consider the possibility of arranging for land transportation of the shipments with Copenhagen as destination....

Where do the MBPs ship from?

I ordered one online (in UK) on the 13th with an estimated delivery date of 26/27 April. It was shipped on 17th with an estimated delivery date (to UK) of 5th May. Why does it take over two weeks to be delivered?

I'm just wondering how accurate the delivery estimate is....

I ordered my CTO 17" MBP Tuesday and received a shipment notice last night for a delivery date of the 21st (9 days after order, 6 days in transit).

I called Apple to get a refund for the $18 and was told they can't do that because...

1. Shipping is 2-3 BUSINESS days and my order will be delivered on the 21st which is only 3 business days (Mon-Wed) because I received my shipment notification late Friday night (doesn't count).

2. The volcano ash is causing delays and that isn't their fault.

3. It has already shipped expedited and they have already paid those costs.

They offered me a $15 off $100 coupon for my troubles. I told them I wanted a refund and they told me they flat out can't do that.

As much as I have appreciated Apple's customer service in the past this is pretty maddening.

why is it maddening?? you were promised 2-3 business day shipping and that is what youre getting.
i dont see why you are so annoyed, or why you think you deserve a refund on your shipping
the volcanic ash is causing most European airspace to be closed off, count yourself lucky that your shipping hasnt been pushed back to the 4th of may like some peoples

Same situation here, I think it is due to the volcano ash situation in Europe.
By the way, have you received any tracking information?

FlightAware finally got the data! FDX28 is over half-way to Anchorage.. Only about 4 more hours until a bunch of us will know if our machines made that flight or not! :)

I ordered the 13" base model in the UK on Tuesday evening, and have just received shipment notification, with a delivery estimate of 'on or before 20th April', which is actually earlier than the initial 21-22 April. It would be interesting to see how they cope with the Air restrictions problem.

if you customised it it ships from Shanghai, China which is where it is built.

it will take 2.5 weeks to deliver probably because of the icelandic volcano and the fact that its nearly impossible to get anything into european airspace at the moment. several other people in europe have posted similar delivery dates to yours. it sucks, but its not apples fault and there is nothing they can do about it.

i ordered mine on the 14th (australian/china time) and it shipped on the 17th (australian/china time) and i will get by the 22nd

its just europe that has delayed shipping times

Base models are not shipped from Shanghai, it most likely will be shipped from the local warehouse.

I did think that - but questioned it when I saw the 5 day shipping estimate for all 13" models. It's a shame some orders will be affected by the ash - though I feel more sorry for those people stranded.

It gets here when it gets here.

Sorry if this is asked before but I couldnt find the answer for it.
A BTO 15inch i7 MBP has a shipping time from 5 to 7 days, will it arrive within this timeframe? or is it a big chance it comes after that period because its new?

Just what it says... Shipping time is 5 to 7 business days...This is not equivalent to delivery time, this is the time between you placing the order and it being manufactured and loaded onto a FedEx or UPS dock... Then it will take 2 to 3 business days (expedited) to deliver.

I wonder why Apple works with Business days? Don't factories and parcel services run 24/7?

Not at full capacity -- weekends cost a lot more.

Compare the cost of shipping something for Saturday delivery to the cost of shipping it normally. Now multiply that by 2/7 of all the computers Apple sells. It ain't happening.

Same situation here, I think it is due to the volcano ash situation in Europe.
By the way, have you received any tracking information?

No - just says "In transit to final destination - carrier details to be updated shortly." where the tracking number should be.

Same over here as well...

Does this mean that the item is still being shipped to the carrier in China?

Well, I just woke up and my package hasn't moved. Last scan is still the same one from 14 hours ago:

Apr 17, 2010 12:57 PM Left FedEx origin facility SHANGHAI CN

No "in transit" scan yet. From other posts, I suspect my package won't go out until Monday or Tuesday. Expected delivery is still Wednesday.

Looks like I was a bit off about flight schedules also. FDX28 to ANC is in the air as expected, but so is FDX48 to MEM. It seems they use the FDX90 flight number for PVG-MEM Mon - Fri, but use the FDX48 flight number (even though it's a different aircraft than the other FDX48 flights which aren't from PVG) for the Saturday PVG-MEM flight.

...but again, FDX48 (777F same as FDX90) has to be flying either severely weight-restricted to make that distance, or is just an empty ferry flight to reposition the aircraft.

Still appears the only flight on Monday is PVG-MEM from historical data, and that PVG-ANC isn't scheduled to run again until Tuesday. But they may adjust the schedule for FDX28, or run that route on Monday under a new flight number that isn't listed, or whatever...

Haven't gone through the few pages of new posts yet; anyone get a "in transit" departure scan matching FDX48? (11:36PM, vs 9:17PM for FDX28.) That'll help us determine if any of these are indeed going on the PVG-MEM flight...
