i'm thinking that the 16th is out at this point ;)

Hard to say. My last BTO mac was ordered on the 6th, shipped on the 11th, and arrived here on the 13th. (June 2007.) But they weren't claiming it would ship in "1-3 business days".

My estimate right now says "Ships: 1-3 business days", "Delivers: Apr 16 - Apr 22". If they ship on the 15th, it's dimly possible, but unlikely, for it to be here on the 16th. But pretty unlikely. More likely it'll be sometime in the middle of next week.

Question about BTO orders - do they typically take the same amount of time throughout a product's life cycle, or does shipping time decrease a few weeks after release?

Ordered on Tuesday evening UK, delivery April 28th.

17" i7, 8GB, 7200rpm, anti-glare.

Why are some people saying the i7 is not worth it? The early cluster of Geekbench scores show an obvious improvement over the i5 in 32 and 64 bit mode.

Because the performance improvement is only ~5-6% over the i5 540M. It literally breaks down to $200 for ~5-6%. The Geekbench results correlate that percentage. Do you want a task done in 60 minutes vs. 56 minutes?

But I will admit, i7 sounds cool.

i7 does sound way cooler. and half of the world thinks we have quad cores in our laptops too.

but mine is the same status as everyone else, ordered on tuesday night.
delivery: Apr 16-22

edit: my printer that will be free after rebate did ship today though. but i will have no mbp to use it with...

Yeah but I only buy a new Mac every 3-4 years, when I do I want to get the highest spec'd machine available, I want that extra MB of L3 and the extra turbo boost, got to future proof that bad boy. ;)

No, but I'd like to run 100 orchestral sample instruments rather than 95.
I know what you mean though, but if there's an extra 5% available I'd rather have it, considering how much I'm spending overall.

Kinda the same as the sticky, but oh well. My built to order was done in store so I have it now :p. Apparently they happened to have i7 17" MacBook Pros and had the ability to swap the 4GB RAM for 8GB (I have my own SSD hard drive).

They don't really decrease except maybe the day after (Tuesday it was 2-4 business days, yesterday was 1-2 days...then it typically stays at 1-2 days or 1-3).

So my standard 15" i5 shipped from Tamworth, GB and is currently out for delivery. Guess they have a warehouse there.

ordered my high end 15" with the 7200 rpm HDD and it says "will be shipped in 4 days".

however the delivery estimate is april 28-29, which is a bummer. does anyone else experience this? i ordered at the german apple store.

I too ordered the high end 15", with the best specs possible. I was given a D.E. of May 3rd.......

It really sucks.
