So we have arrived in Oakland. Here's that off-time time stamp from Shanghai last night. FlightAware has FDX1857 heading to PDX arriving at about 4am, so what do you think? On average do they hold them at the shipping center or could it be on it's way in the morning? It's not due until 4/22 by 4:30pm.

Very sim timeline (almost exact) except I live in Anc and I still can't get it. Post or IM me when you get it. I'm wondering if you'll get it first. I have a FedEx mgr calling me tomorrow about hijacking my MBP all freaking day (and night) in Anc.

I think there's a possibility of getting the package a day earlier!

Mine went from Prepared for Shipment to Shipping in just a few hours. Now "In Transit" from UPS. Hoping for a Friday delivery!!!!!

Guys,

I've ordered a Macbook pro 15" i7 with a 500gb 7200rpm and the higher resolution on saturday april 17 in a apple store in the netherlands. So I can't track my order!!

What time do you think it will be in my hands?;)

First time mac user!!

I know I'm breaking the rules of this thread talking about stuff like this instead of flight and tracking information, but hopefully ya'll will forgive me this one transgression. ;)

If you want to migrate a user from your old machine to your new machine and you have already created that user on the new machine you can do it this way:

Create another user on the new machine (System Preferences->Accounts)
Make sure the new user is an Admin on the machine
Log into the new user account on the new machine
Delete the user name you originally created on the new machine
Run Migration Assistant and migrate over the user

It actually takes a lot less time to perform these steps than it does to read about them so if anyone finds themselves in this position it's a relatively quick and easy thing to work around.

 thanks. I wanted to ask the question.

Dear Apple,

I profusely apologise for my earlier comment in this thread regarding the mythical Chinese work ethic and the disappointing reduction in the number of sweatshops in the far east. The comments were based on sheer frustration and running emotions and I would now like to retract them. Nobody's perfect, we all make stupid errors so can you now stop bouncing my order status back and forth between 'prepared for shipment' and 'not yet shipped' and get a move on?

Thank you in advance.

Damn. The original expected receive date was from the 19th to the 23rd. Now my package has shipped it is saying the expected date would be the 27th. That sucks. I really needed it.

Ready to strangle UPS

Finally gave in and called UPS. My MBP (ordered 14th, shipped 17th, estimated delivery 22nd) has been sitting in Louisville since yesterday morning. Has not been updated since the 2 UPS flights to ATL departed and arrived. I was told "expedited" shipping as it was listed, is the slowest shipping speed by air, and my scheduled delivery date is now friday, the 23rd. Why does it take 4 days for a package to get from Louisville to Atlanta??????????????? She said it cleared customs at 9:58 PM last night. OK, so why couldn't it hop a plane at 3 or 4 a.m. when they were heading to ATL? Or do that tomorrow? WHY NOT TILL FRIDAY!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? UGHHHHHHHHHHH.

I'm not too happy myself. I agree, why does a package have to pointlessly sit around when there are plenty of flights taking off to the appropriate destinations? I'm from the Toronto, Ontario area (actually closer to Hamilton, Ontario) and I've seen a few flights headed out of Louisville, namely one to YYZ and YHM (Tor and Ham) early this morning.

Why would UPS drag it out like this when they could get the praises of customers everywhere for early deliveries?

Also, with the huge stunt in air traffic and related packages flying in/out of Europe, you'd think UPS would have alot less on their plate so to speak, right now. Which would of course, translate into faster delivery turnarounds within North America.

Just my two cents.

Forget "early." Friday delivery makes mine LATE!

Mine was ordered April 13 with delivery for today, April 21. I called UPS last night and they said Thursday, April 22.

My MBP has just been sitting around in each city's airport it goes to for days at a time, when plenty of flights are headed to the appropriate destinations.

Hopefully UPS gets it together and gets our MBPs moving soon.

Slow boat from China

Having seen my MBP sit in Shanghai for more than 2 days, chill in Alaska for more than 12 hours, I now see it has arrived in Newark at 2:27 AM. It is now evidently in a holding pattern so that my delivery will be on the last listed day, April 22 in the late afternoon. I would have thought it would be trucked to Long Island in the wee hours for delivery today. Just goes to show you the consequences of procrastination. Had I ordered early in the day on April 13, I would be writing this on my mac. Instead, I waited till I got home from work to order and here I sit with my windows computer complaining. I wish all of you have a speedy delivery.

That's just awesome. Seems allot of MBPs are sitting in Louisville right now just wanting to get delivered. I saw someone else in this thread that went from Louisville to their place in Ontario and delivered all on the 20th while ours just sit on a pallet somewhere.

Psycos info keeping it real.

It could have easily left Shanghai on Apr 20, not even just Anchorage, and made it to you fine. Alaska to Houston in 19 hours is more then plenty of time. For example, for my package to go from wheels-up in Shanghai to landing in Boston (5 miles from me), it took just under 19 hours! (With a 3 hour stop in Memphis.) So it's safe to say that ANC-IAH can be covered in far less than that. :)

Now that makes my info that I received this morning seem plausible.
Went from not yet shipped at around 1:am to a Initiated stat around 5:am.

Initiated Picked up In transit Delivered
Shipment information sent to FedEx

Shipment Dates
Anticipated ship date Apr 21, 2010
Estimated delivery Apr 23, 2010 by 4:30 PM
Destination
Des Arc, AR

The 19 hour info makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside plus I'm glad FDX is taking care of it, they seem to be the most informative.
Now I can breath.

hope i get it by tomorrow...

WTF is mine sitting in Louisville for since yesterday morning. I am not too happy with UPS, never have been. I wish we use Fedex..the lesser of 2 evils.
I have NEVER had a package deliver early by UPS. Fedex I have...never UPS.
Not only is it stupid to fly to Louisville from Anchorage to begin with when my package is going to Calgary. It could have easily fly to Seattle or Vancouver first. Now not only is it flew to Louisville, it has to sit there for a day without movement. What the hell is UPS doing? uggggggg:mad:

Louisville is a major sorting hub for UPS, i know it stupid sometimes to route packages throught there. FedEx use Memphis as their hub. On that note, I agree, UPS sucks..like I dont need to know that my package has been delivered 24hrs later.

Makes no sense. Mine, too, has been sitting in Louisville since Tuesday morning at 9:28am (scan time). There were two flights this morning to Ontario (Toronto and Hamilton) and as far as I know, my MBP is STILL sitting in Louisville. I think there was also a flight to Calgary.

And then I hear about folks who had their MBP shipped out April 19 (while mine was shipped on the 16th), already in their delivery town. What gives?
