Ordered my first Mac, 17 SR MBP, Hi Res Matte Screen, 160GB 7200 HD
Apple Store is telling me she will be shipped on JULY 18th, Delivered on JULY 25th
WHAT? 47 days for my new laptop. That sucks and blows.
Called Apple, they couldn't tell me anything more that I already knew.
Been waiting, like everyone else, for the SR update. I'm just really excited to finally get it, but this is going to be excruciating.
I'm in BC, Canada. Didn't think that would have an impact.
Hopefully the dates are just a guess, and think its better that people receive their Macs sooner rather then missing the shipping dates.

So has anyone with BTO options' macbook pros shipped yet? Furthermore, why is simply a glossy display considered "BTO"? I thought they made stock models of both, and sold both in retail stores? You'd think they'd have enough stock of them to send them right out. I WANT MY COMPUTER, DAMN IT! lol
2.4GHz 15" Stock, except Glossy, still waiting... order placed about 20 minutes after store reopened. I would have done it in about two minutes, but I was trying to figure out why the glossy was cheaper, thinking perhaps they werent LED backlit.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. I'm in New Zealand and mine should arrive today. Ordered within half an hour or so of the bump.
Correction: Is currently out for delivery. W00t!
Ordered a CTO low-end macbook pro with glossy screen and 160gb 5400 rpm HD 20 minutes after they went online. It just shipped today (2 days later). Fedex doesn't show the expected arrival date yet. It's shipping to Nova Scotia, Canada:

Our new 17" MBP shipped yesterday ordered with 2 day shipping... will arrive Monday by 10:30On occasion we've recieved packages earlier than the qoute on the website... but i have a feeling it's not coming on satuday.
Where are you located out of curiosity?
meh they can just plonk it in the ocean and give it a shove and it reaches you. There is clear evidence to show apple is not processing in first come first served basis.
As an additional note its saying 'Shipping Soon' on my order page.
I was wondering the same thing. Just ordering one with a glossy screen is custom?
Strange you should say that... the tracking widget for mine now shows 'Shipping soon' but when I go to the site it still says not yet shipped. I'm guessing the widget just updates that way because current date now = shipping date. But if yours actually shows that on the site there may be light at the end of the tunnel...

Terrible isn't it... I just happened to have restarted my machine, jumped into Dashboard and felt a twinge of excitment when it changed to 'shipping soon' only to realise it was just the widget.
Given that some people have started to report 17's appearing in Apple stores I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. If I can pick one up I'll cancel the online order. I can't stand another 3 days (or more!) of this!

Yes it sucks...but this is what happens with the 7200rpm drive. Only thing holding me back from ordering, the 4-6 shipping time. The anticipation for that long would kill me.

Hey - just called Apple to ask about the 1-3 day estimate now given when one selects the 7200 on a 17", and was told my 17" MBP (ordered early Wed. morn) should be here by Mon/Tues. Huh? Not sure if I believe it, no change on the Apple order details page yet, should have asked them to email me confirmation. We'll see - will be excellent if true! My config:

Hmm, mine is still In Transit...just how long does that flight from China to the US take?! I thought for sure it would have been in the USA by now...
What happens if there is something wrong with the computer when it arrives? Will it take Apple a long time to ship out a replacement if you ordered a custom MBP? I'm hoping this doesn't happen, but you never know. My specs are a 17" High-Res Glossy and 7200 RPM drive, expected to ship June 8 and arrive June 12-13.

TNT are delivering mine but since it shipped yesterday there have been no updates on Apple's site nor TNT's. Are you in the UK?
apple were quick to take my readies but so far proving not so swish at send the computer!
