ended up going for the larder capacity hd rather than speed, either way the 4200 in the mbp should be faster than the 4200 in my ibook
est. ship arrival by the 30th

plllllzzzzzzzzzzzzz .... anybody ever use rush service ??

The "free" standard shipping doesn't take two weeks. Rather, it generally only takes a few days depending on where you are. ;)

Unfortunately, the two+ week delivery is more dependent on the fact that there is a delay in shipping MBPs. This is either a result of high demand and/or low supply of a particular component.

Speculation is that the availability of the displays is part of the problem, combined with the fact that this version of the MBP seems to be popular. :D

So even if you pay for rush delivery, it still may take a week or two (or more) for your MBP to ship.

People have mentioned that Apple does not ship on a first-order/first-ship basis. I'd suggest that it seems that they try to but deviate based on the availability of specific parts. ;)

I understand that you need your computer soon, but personally I wouldn't pay for rushed delivery only to to save a day or two.

It sucks, but we are all dealing with it. If you want one, get in line. ;)

Thanks for the response ... The apple store near me is out of stock right now for almost a week ... and I need this before I leave US :( I guess I have to leave it for when i get back

Mine was ordered August 13th, a replacement machine...2.2GHz glossy. It shipped out August 17th, it just left Memphis today...wooo! I didn't even get an email saying it had shipped until today, so it was already in the US when I checked :>
Should be delivered the 21st...I was planning on waiting a lot longer :D

how long from prep to ship until ship?

anyone know how long it takes the MBP to go from "prep to ship" to "shipped"?? hoping that i get my shipped out notice soon...

I had to have mine replaced too. I think it was due to a bad logic board but the official cause for it not booting after a few hours was never determined. Originally ordered on july 26 and delivered on aug 10, then sent back on aug 14 and processed as a return on 8/17. Now I'm waiting for the new one to go out.

This is my fifth or sixth replacement, my second Core 2 Duo replacement. Sigh.

Shipped!!!!

Finally! After checking the Apple Order Status website every couple of hours, I finally got this "Shipped on: Aug 20, 2007 via FEDERAL EXPRESS". It's finally on it's way. Ordered 8/8... hopefully it'll arrive problem-free.

Mine says the same thing...looks like our MBPs are riding together...I hope they have a good, fast trip!

I just (6:00pm) checked for about the 10th time today and it now says Prepared for Shipment. Yay!! So how long before you usually get a tracking number or goes into transit?

Ok, I checked this morning and the status was finally updated.

It was picked up Aug 20th at 3:59PM and Left Origin at 4:19PM. But next to the pick up time under details it says "Package received after Fedex cutoff time". What does that mean?
