And I hope that its worth an event mention.

surely is going to be worth a mention considering:
  • due to the haswell there is going to be a battery increase, and this rarely happens so its something to talk about in a presentation
  • thunderbolt 2 and hdmi 2.0 are probably going to be in it - this will be worth a mention if they release a 4k cinema screen (so the pro macbook can connect to the pro screen)

What's so important about the 15th? Several weeks ago, I guessed that Mbp would not be released until October - just a guess based on BTS and such. Sadly, I was right. But the good news is October is only a few days away. Is this going to be one of those cases where you have to wait in line for days like the iPhone or wait a week for delivery?

wasn't last year's event the 23rd of october? so the 22nd could be a valid possibility this year. i highly doubt there will be a line, however ordering a configured version online will put you in a queue that could get large

It's just a potential event date. You never have to wait in line for MBPs, its just waiting for shipping of BTO models.

Whenever it's released there definitely will not be an announcement ahead of time. Making an announcement before availability will completely halt current sales, which isn't something Apple wants to do. Look at what just happened with the iMacs, for example: Silent update with no clues it was coming. At most the rMBP will get a mention at an event on the day it becomes available, but it also could be refreshed silently with no notice.

I was actually thinking more of the point the release then being available with in 3-6weeks. Though now I am thinking it's going to be a very quiet bump as with the iMacs, wake up one morning to the Apple Elves have updated the store :)

Hah, god the irony of the first post. If anything OP is the one starting a wild rumor that there will not be an update this year.

Haswell MBP should be coming in a couple of weeks tops, based on previous cycles and dates.

Agreed, there will be one short (fingers crossed). Apple is at the mercy of what Intel will supply them with regarding chipsets.

I have a very strong suspicion that the rumors of rMBP with Haswell processor started as nothing but a rumor that grew out of control.

I've followed the rumors since February with different release dates according to Kuo and ilk and NOTHING has been remotely close to the truth. Even back in June when Air was announced and Apple mentioned plans for Mac Pro, nothing was mentioned with regard to rMBP with Haswell.

Sadly, this has been a case for willing something to happen based on a rumor that was created from a source whose predictions have been wrong more than accurate. Hey, a stopped clock is wrong twice a day.

If you need a rMBP, buy now. This wait has been a waste of time and I wish I had not fallen for it.

As much as we want Apple to release new hardware, believing rumors will not make it so.

Traditionally, Apple has released new hardware with new OS releases. There is far more evidence that upgraded / refreshed machines are only weeks away. DO NOT BUY NOW. This is the advise I would give to any dear family member or friend. Apple is bubbling-up one of their better "computer related" events in recent years. JUST HOLD

I'm trying so hard and still waiting. Oddly, MacMall now has the current (early 2013) rMBPs on sale. Until yesterday, they only sold the 2012 models at $800 off.

interesting...

Don't worry, Haswell will come this year.
