I guess I just don't understand the target demographic for this form of smartphone? People who want to consume long form content (movies) on their phones? This still seems too small for that imo. I guess if you're a serious mobile gamers, then it may make sense (that world is unknown to me), but I don't think that's a very big demo either?
Mobile games suck and are full of junk ads. Also one hard press and the thing will break. I bet people who buy this gadgets are YouTubers and tech enthusiasts and most of the time they just use the front screen anyway.

I meant it in the sense of I expected both to be low-volume products with limited interest, but a foldable much less interest. I am surprised Apple anticipates worthwhile demand here.
I don’t think Apple anticipates big demand for this phone if you look at the market share of folding phones. But otherwise its the same company who brought you Vision Pro so they could be this delusional.

I'm surprised anyone would think that the first Apple foldable won't be in very high demand from launch.
It won’t especially for that price. Look at VP and how it flopped. Also every new iPhone category flopped in the last 6 years. The only new iPhone category who was a success was the Pro introduced in 2019. They should really go back to iPhone (base model) and iPhone (flagship).

Odd size….
It stands out and likely will be have Android copies within the next 9 months.

Personally? I wouldn't want to spend more than iPhone Pro Max base model pricing for any flagship phone.

Had folding phone in 1998 & 2008 and BS on the hinge breaking.

It’s pretty much an iPad mini that can fold down to pocket size. Also unlike the current foldables on the market, this one will have an aspect ratio that will actually be useful in tablet mode.

The ability to carry an iPhone that opens up to an iPad mini whenever I need it sounds very useful to me so I guess I’m the target demographic. As long as they don’t hold back the tablet mode OS experience.

I've been sticking with my 15 Pro since I hate the larger sizes -- still miss my mini. I printed this out. If it actually ends up being this size, I'm 100% getting it.

I still don’t understand why. Surely if you work in a job that requires work to be done in a tablet sized device, you already have other bits to carry with you, a briefcase for example. I also feel that this device will be a compromise compared to either dedicated device. For examples this device won’t have a hardware keyboard & trackpad, massively limiting its usability compared to an iPad. So it’s going to need to be handheld to type on. That means the keyboard will likely take up at least a third of the screen. Other than a slightly larger screen I cannot see what advantage this device has over an iPhone. It will likely lack features of the cheaper iPhone pro, a key element often cited for why the iPhone air has flopped.

wow, didn‘t expect so much ugliness 🤣

There will be people who make this as they can't (or won't) spend a huge amount of money, yet REALLY want one. Happens every time. They say to themselves: "I'll make this, and play with it pretend like, to satisfy the urge"

Smart consumers. The rest buy the stupid folding phones, that look rather dubious. I'll want one, but can't afford a 3d printer either, so I post things like this. Sorry.

Why do I want to carry an iPad mini with me all the time? Also it doesn’t justify the price. iPad + iPhone is much cheaper and offers more.
I want an iPad mini with me at all times. I don't currently do that because I don't want to bring along a second device. The folding iPhone will solve that.

Yes it does justify the price if you want to carry this device in a front pocket.

VP is a relatively new product category. Foldables have been around for nearly a decade.

I guarantee you that this folding iPhone will be a massive success.

No FaceID = no interest from me. I'll buy the 2nd generation with FaceID when Apple realise no one will buy them unless they include it.
