Just placed orders for pickup. I need 4 so I had to make 2 orders each at a different store. I just canceled 4 of the 4 pre orders I have. 4 people just got bumped up. I love this forum
canceled my preorder and chose pick up today at 4:30pm. so excited!!
Trust me, you can cancel it. I was in the IUP program, until I picked my iPhone X up yesterday without a wait. I'm going to refuse shipment of my iPhone X, and then the whole order, including the Citizens One loan, is null and void.

Took about 5 or 10 minutes for Verizon to "release" my account after canceling through apple.com, and then ordered for in store pickup and card has already been charged.
4 or 5 stores in my area had some (256GB/Verizon/Silver). Of course check your local store availability BEFORE you cancel... even more stores had the 64GB.
No, don't be that person. Really, you can't wait until 5pm? If you try that garbage, I'm sorry but you're a certified bozo!

Mine also has been sitting in South Korea since 7:26 PM local time yesterday (over 27 hours ago). Those of you who were envious of us with Monday ship dates need not have been. At least you can cancel your order, and just go and buy one of the readily available phones at Apple other retail vendors, while we formerly “lucky ones“ sit here in limbo.
Call me a spoiled, inpatient geek, but I’m seriously considering going to the Apple store and just buying one full-out on a credit card today, and then returning it once my order shows up (UPS is still reporting 11/8, but Apple’s official delivery date remains 11/8).

I paid in full so there was nothing that needed to be released. I will change to IUP in store since I am TMO customer.
I wasn't able to cancel my order, since it has already shipped, however I did go to Target yesterday and pickup an iPhone X. Took about 15 minutes. I had no issues doing this through Verizon. I'm refusing shipment of my pre ordered iPhone X. And in doing so I will be canceling the IUP program. It is garbage.
I cancelled and I have verizon. Took 5-10 minutes before it would let me place a new order for that phone number. Probably closer to 5 but it felt like forever.
Same. Farewell preorder drama. At 6AM the stock truly did refresh and I was able to set up for in-store pickup at a local Apple store for my 64GB Silver. <3

Same. I kept refreshing and trying again and again trying to consider all my options.
So totally debating that. Both my husband AND my phones are in stock around the corner. I mean, mine comes Monday (assuming it ever leaves Korea), so it’s not the end of the world. But man, SO CLOSE and yet so far.
I canceled with Verizon and it worked ok, took about 5 or 10 minutes. I just went back to the "check carrier" screen every few minutes until it finally said continue.
My original order was paid in full through apple.com - I'm not sure if IUP or other account setups take longer. Can only speak to what I just did.

So my local store has stock, but I can't pickup until Monday. My 'pre order' is still OIP. Anyone know if you can buy on Saturday for pickup on Monday?
That's a good question. They give you a half hour pickup window and I would think items not picked up by end of day would go back into the available stock pool. BUT I was fully charged for my reservation already so technically I've purchased the phone and all other stores (Target, Best Buy, etc) hold in store pick ups for at least 3-5 days. If I were you, I would make the reservation and then call the store to see how long they'll hold it for you. Good luck.

I paid in full too. No contract anywhere, but they were still saying I could only order one phone at a time. Odd.
