I'm in OC too. I was so impressed with how many stores have stock and continue to have stock. I had to wait the 5 minutes or so for it to actually start working as well and was so worried I was gonna lose out.
I tried to cancel my “order in progress” and kept getting an error that item is ineligible to cancel. There is stock at all 3 stores within an hour of me. I am in the upgrade program. I called and was advised they have to cancel my order and allow 24 hours for the loan to “reset” before I can get a phone at a store and then stock isn’t guaranteed. Essentially I’m stuck with waiting until it ships or paying in full and not using the upgrade program. Such bs. I tried to not complain about my ship date and preorder issues but it’s unbelievable that I can’t get a phone in Store instead now without letting my online order be cancelled for 24 hours. Anyone else had this issue?
I had Dec 1-8 date. Canceled online order and have a pickup at noon in the Albany NY store.

Cancelling worked! Took literally a minute to be able to order again and schedule pickup...WOW!
Do you have to have the credit card you paid with to pick up the phone at a store? I want to purchase a phone for my son who is at school in another state for him to pick up at the store closest to him. I would be paying in full.
For anyone with an existing Apple order through Verizon payments, it took about 5 minutes at the most for my line to be able to reserve a phone for pickup. I have set a time to pick mine up later today.
My boyfriend canceled his order through Verizon directly, and his new order through Apple was able to be placed immediately. He had a December ship date. I won't pretend to understand the order process this year, but it wouldn't be a typical iPhone season without me having existential crises and trying to get to an Apple store (2 hours away) without freaking out.

I got it at the Tampa store yesterday after 2.5 hour wait. They tell you upfront if they have the phone in stock and also they will reserve one for you if you wish to stay in the line. . So you don’t have to wait in line for nothing.
I checked istocknow.com last night... no go
Checked again an hour ago... all the Pittsburgh Apple Stores had iPhone X units available.
Canceled my online order and I have a reservation for 11:30am to pick it up at Ross Park Mall store.

Argh. Cancelled ATT Next Apple.com order that still hadn't shipped due to plenty of stock...ATT won't release my Next eligibility and says it takes 24 hours. Been on phone for more than 30 minutes already.
I had an interesting thing happen today. I boarded a flight and then read about a guy having secured an iPhone X at a St. Paul mall. With much anticipation I checked for inventory at an apple store 10 minutes drive from my home. Lo behold I see it was available. Then it was a race against time to make two individual orders, and cancel existing orders, all before the aircraft door closed and the plane took off. As I hit the second old order cancel, the plane is ready for leaving the gate. I am airborne now, and I connected to gogo and see my orders are ready for pickup and old orders are cancelled! This forum is invaluable during such times. Thanks for sharing information.

Next UPS flight departs Korea for Anchorage in less than 10 minutes. Still no more UPS scans in Korea other than yesterday’s arrival scan.
Well it has fun the last 2 weeks. However a lot of Apple stores now have stock. So for those waiting, just do the old cancel and go pick it up...maybe Apple just wanted to see us all in person this year
Congrats to those who did not get bumped but are going to get them in store this weekend! Think of the preorder as an insurance for a worst case scenario delivery date. As for me mine arrives on Monday so I don't feel the need to go to malls today to buy one. It looks like Apple did a very good job with anticipating demand this time around.

I think this depends on the delivery date...if they didn't get bumped to soon enough, sure go ahead cancel and go in store. If yours is set to arrive within the week then it isn't really worth the hassle. It will come to the comfort of your home.

Mine is still showing as stuck in Incheon according to the UPS site with delivery date 11/6. But I got an email from UPS My Choice this morning that says delivery date 11/7. Now super confusing. Would go to the store but we can't cancel orders that are already shipping.
This is the last time I will preorder like this. I never had issues before with ordering or going to the store and just buying the day of. I really think Apple panicked after the 8 and 8plus release and just wanted the extra hype because after the 6 launch you couldn't find phones for a while in store, same for the 5 as well. All along they had plenty of stock to sell, which seriously is ridiculous because they made it east to go buy, but hard for those who ordered? oh well, that was fun and now we have a whole year to wait and see what next years de-boggle is.
my confirmation email came only at 5:12am ET even though I order at 3:08am. Have anybody got an email that late and got bumped up?
I really don't know what to do guys, I don't know if I still let the order delivery for December 10 or cancel and buy it there at the store when I arrive at the USA.
