I was able to cancel my order online, placed an order to pick up at a local Apple store, went and waited about 10 minutes. There was a huge line outside for walk-ins.

Happy to have the X
 
Okay great my phone is stuck in Achorage waiting clearance AGAIN. While there’s PLENTY iPhone X flowing around in Apple stores near me.

Screw your Apple! What’s the point of pre-ordering then!!

So if you cancel an approved IUP, will there be another credit check? I guess I could fully pay, but I like the IUP option better where you only pay for Apple Pay for the months you own the phone (assuming you trade up within 2 years).

I have a daughter home from college this weekend and her’s is 17-24 no movement. But there are no phones in stock at any ATT or Apple stores near Cincinnati and I’m not driving to Toledo - the nearest stock. That said, I can keep and eye on it and cancel next week if it becomes available local if there’s no movement on the current one. I don’t mind a 1.5 hour road trip to see her in any case.

I have two other pre-approved re-up IUP orders - one stuck in Anchorage, the other in Korea. I’m hoping the one in Anchorage (then headed to KY) is just waiting for the rest from Korea and we still get them Monday but I’m ok if it’s Tuesday or Wednesday (the Apple estimate).

If in fact Apple was prioritizing IUP re-orders with the move up to 26 then ship, their strategy now makes sense as it would be harder to cancel/pickup local in that situation.

I can’t blaime Apple. If they had said there would be plenty in stores and people didn’t get one, that would have been another issue. Hopefully this experience will help people chill about their launch day entitlement in the future. Seems like a lot of fired emotions for nothing now.

Mine has been stuck in Korea for almost 30 hours with no movement but that arrival scan on the 3rd.
Same. I hope I get it on Monday since I’m going out of town Thursday morning. Wish I never pre-ordered and just could pick one up in stores but o well, hopefully Monday I’ll have a new phone and can forget about all this lol
 
Canceled my pre order this morning. 2 minutes later I ordered for pickup.
I did the same thing! I cancelled all of my 3 preorders with shipping dates November 17-24th & a few minutes later I ordered the same exact phones for pick up in my Berkeley store today!! Wow, this is unreal why stay up all night with the stress of the iPhone preorder when you can just order & pick up at the store? CRAZY!!!

And even that’s a crapshoot- we could have all done store pick up and then been totally out of stock for weeks. ‍♀️

Braver than I--this morning they were showing pick up available today at the Apple Store, before 9 AM--went down to the Apple Store intending to cancel my preorder (which is still showing delivery Nov 17-24), and before I got through the line, OOS of all X's.

I just couldn't bring myself to cancel my preorder first, and buy it online before the store opened, because it could take up to 30 minutes for the cancel to show up at Verizon, so I could order a X on the same number.

BTW if your store is like mine, be prepared to stand in line for your pick up. By 11 AM Central, they still had folks in line with 10 AM pick up times. I guess that's the only advantage of preordering - no waiting in line.
 
Seriously.. Why did we stay up all night on the 26th again???
Because we were spooked by all the gloom-and-doom predictions of not being able to get an iPhone X until Spring 2018. (Just like all the people around the country who are preparing for the four-day electronics blackout that’s supposed to be staged by the military today.)
 
all of you that are cancelling orders and picking up in store, did you all do full price orders, or did you do ATT NEXT or anything like that. Or do you just call and cancel while in the store physically holding the new one.

I did Iphone upgrade for the 6s+ and 7+ and always got it on the first day for local pickup. but this time when it finally let me in the apple store to order, @ like 0315am EST, ship dates were already 17-24. but at the same time ATT still had the 3rd. Im still really shocked that ATT could deliver on time shipments vs APPLE this time around.

I called to cancel my online order right when the employee came to me while waiting in line to make my reservation. I did the Apple loan program without the IUP initially. After I got it in-store, I enrolled in the IUP.

I wasn't too attached to my 2-3 week wait pre-order. Once I saw that I could pickup a phone today I immediately canceled. If stocks are this good one day after launch I'd be pretty confident you can get one locally before your pre-order even ships.

That’s what I was so afraid of! My hands were shaking when I canceled my orders! But I just went for it, I figured I would give it the old college try. Better than waiting until November 17-24th!! Once I canceled my preorders I turned right around & ordered for store pick up. I’m happy now it may not be launch day but it’s launch day for me!!!

So I just went down to my local store and had them reserve one for me, seems like they had plenty in stock. Now I get a nniicceeeee long wait on hold with AppleCare to cancel the online order so I'm eligible again (IUP.) Why you can't cancel online is utterly beyond me.

meu problema era pior, eu chego dia 08 e vo embora dia 14 e minha ordem estava agendada para entrega entre 17-24 de novembro...

hoje fiz uma nova ordem com pickup at the store e resolvi o problema.

Ordered 12:16. no updates. 11/17-11/24. no charge.

I was reading all your comments and decided to go down to my local Victoria Gardens store on my lunch. I called ahead at 11:30am and a woman said they had PLENTY of 256 ATT Space Greys in stock and she’d set one aside for me. I was down there in 10 mins only to be told that all iPhone X’s sold out at 9:30am. The employee had no idea who gave me that time frame.

Wtf? So upset. Thank god I didn’t cancel my order through the app.

I just want my phone. I have two cases and a glass protector already. I mean I have a 7+ so i’m not in need. It’d just be nice to have ATT Next users get a ****ING bump like everyone else.

When I called my local store, the employee told me straight that they couldn’t hold it, had to walk-in. Very wise on your part!

I canceled 3 preorders online. I think you have to go to Apple.com you can’t cancel on the Apple app

What the heck!!! I️ was trying to cancel my order on Apple.com and it says I️ need to contact Apple to cancel it. It is still OIP and 17-24. Local stores show availability. Come on!!

I had gotten that message too while waiting in line for the phone. I was on hold 20 minutes praying that the order status wouldn’t change as I was getting the phone from the store.
 
There's plenty of stock of the Silver 256GB ATT near me this morning. If I hit the cancel button on my Apple order, how long does it take for my phone number to be free to order one for pickup? I'm worried that on a Saturday morning it might lag and then I'm out of luck!

I would call to make sure. I don’t trust online anything right now lol
