All hope is not lost....
I placed my order on 10/27/17 at around 9:30-10:00 am EST. My original delivery date was 12/11/17-12/16/17.
On 11/01/17, my order was moved up to 11/19/17-11/26/17. After release, I saw that local Apple stores had inventory. Apple would not let me cancel my order (IUP) so I could not change it to store pickup. I called on 11/04/17 around 8:30 am and was on hold for 26 minutes before the call disconnected. I called back around 9:30 pm and got through after being on hold for 20 minutes. The rep told me that he could cancel it but it takes 24 hours to show with AT&T and I could call them to let them know so I could place a new order. I don't AT&T customer service, so I opted to wait since it was only to weeks.
Yesterday morning, I get notice from Apple showing my phone has shipped and expected delivery is now 11/10/17.
What I am saying is, keep checking...your date may change and move up. I went from 5-6 weeks originally to only having to wait a week....
