What irritates me is that I preordered got ended up with the 11/17-11/24 date and someone can walk in on launch day on purchase one. I used my AT&T Next upgrade, so I do not know what happens if I cancel my preorder, if it resets and how long does it take.
When I started my preorder the date was 11/3 by the time finished (AT&T verification errors) my ship date is 11/17-11/24
Based on my experiences... it's just a gamble either way you go.
I just need to get this off my chest after reading all the angry and angsty posts about wanting a launch day phone (this is not directly specifically at you, ck3801-- you just said "irritated", you otherwise seem fairly calm and rational

):
The fact is, it's IMPOSSIBLE for everyone who wanted a launch day phone to get one. It doesn't matter that the app store didn't come up faster for me than it did for others, it doesn't matter whose systems didn't handle the load (Citizen One for iUP; AT&T, Verizon, or whoever) etc etc... there was STILL a finite number of phones available for launch day and if it didn't come down to errors and the store not coming up in your app or whatever, it would have come down to something else. If everything had worked 100% smoothly and all systems had limitless capacity to handle preorder demand... there still would have been just seconds of difference between launch day orders and orders pushed out 1-2 weeks, and the same number of people would be waiting for a company to manufacture the phone they want.
You might not care for it, but Apple isn't going to wait to start selling this thing until they have more than enough for demand-- they're going to sell it as soon as they feel like they can, because they're in business to make money. None of the backorders should really be shocking to anyone who paid attention to the rumors-- if anything, they should be happy that it wasn't as grim as supposed, with orders slipping into 2018 within minutes of preorders starting.
I get it. We love these devices and we love being among the first to have them. It's easy to be impatient. Obviously I stayed up to preorder and was disappointed with how it went and the time I'll have to wait. But I'm ok with it. It's not worth wasting my energy on feeling like I was entitled to something that no one can possibly guarantee and angry it didn't work out my way.
And I absolutely think these companies should do the best they can to provide better experience (ie get that store up for everyone at the same time, eliminate the errors, etc).
And I think it's fair to voice your experience with Apple. If they blow it bad enough it's going to cost them their bottom line.
At the end of the day... not every single thing in life will always play out the way you want it to. That's just how it is, you make the best of it. Lots of people are in the same boat with you.
