If I had known I could have just walked into the local Apple store today and bought one. How can people who ordered hours after most people get their phones on launch day, or December shipments get moved up to today or next week? I feel like my order didn’t go through, about to cancel and just go walk in and buy one in person.

They literally put out a press release saying there would be phones on launch day for people in line...

i did at 12:09, at 12:12 i received the order confirmation email

no movement, no DEBIT CARD charge..

WTF apple?

Cleary they put the IUP in front of us..

I'm IUP. Had an X reserved at 3:12 am (Eastern). 256 GB Verizon. Gray. I'm still Nov. 17 - 24.

OK, but certainly Citizens One is getting something, whether it is .05% or 3.5%. My point is that Apple gets the full amount with those of us that pay in ful

I would think Citizens takes a higher percentage than a standard credit card processing. Apple would come out ahead with those of us that pay in full.
But the IUP also requires AppleCare so ultimately is more profitable.

With this kind of stock on launch day, I'm not even happy with the 11/6 delivery date. What the hell...I can't even cancel and just go to Apple Store now.

I'm not sure why a large corporation whose number one priority is shareholders deserves the benefit of doubt that "there is a method to the madness". Apple isn't doing anything out of kindness, let's understand what their incentive is and not blindly trust them.

I don’t think you understood me.

There is a method to their madness. There is a reason some people who ordered later are getting shipments earlier than those who ordered before them. It’s either a question of stock of the specific model or geography or some backend process, but there is a reason. They don’t have a room full of people throwing darts at a board deciding who to screw over. There is a process in place and it could explain everything that is happening.

That’s not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. That’s just common sense.

Also you are much more valuable customer to Apple. You have a higher chance of upgrading next year and buying it from apple direct. Increased margins and repeat.

Decided to take my chance at my local store today. I was able to grab the exact phone I wanted. I opted for AT&T next rather than IUP like for the online order. Saves me from having to off load my phone myself. Absolutely loving the device so far.

I feel the same way. I feel tricked by Apple after all the hype they made about using the app store app and storing your information with apple pay so you can check out quickly. I should have just pre-ordered from the Verizon site. I know its just a phone, but its super annoying that there are people getting their phones today because they used another website to order or they're just standing in line.

I could not complete my order until 3:18 AM (eastern) due to the stupid Verizon reservation error that had never come up until the iPhone X was released. Its still "order in progress" for me.

Apple.com iPhone 64GB SG t-mobile, paid infull, odered on the 45 min after preorder was started. Original delivery dates: 5 - 11 dec. Bumped to 1 - 8 dec.

If you order iphone now, it shows that delivery date is on 5 - 12.

Seems that 5 - 11 dec. will be shipped on aprox 20 November.

Exactly why I did it with the 7+. It's clear that IUP is priority. Not sure why anyone would use anything else tbh.

I pre ordered to avoid that, if they have so much stock, considering I got my order in about 7 minutes after midnight, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be getting it today or next week.

Because the IUP is not nearly as good as AT&T NEXT, that's why. There is no hard credit pull, there is no half-assed trade-in experience. AT&T NEXT has been around longer and far more mature of an upgrade program than Apple's own. I see they've finally gotten their act together this year not requiring you to bring it to a store to trade-in (what a concept). Besides, those of us using AT&T already for the last several years are in no position to switch to IUP for zero added benefit.

Just called my local Verizon and they said they have the iPhone X in stock but you have to purchase a $200 accessory bundle with it "due to high demand"...lol mmkay

Yet everyone is complaining about not getting their phones on launch day yada yada. So if you want to enroll in an upgrade program, and have preference to receive your phone earlier, IUP is the better option. Plus AppleCare is included so you don't have to deal with carrier's horrible truly awful repair programs, and can go straight to the Genius Bar.

Just seems like the better option for Apple fans who want their new device right away. Especially if you're deep in the ecosystem (as most on here are).

No, IUP has yet to prove itself as better. Apple is simply expediting some IUP orders because they, again, had issues with credit processing this year (just like last year) and they are trying to avoid getting hit with another class-action lawsuit like they did last year. There is no standard rule that IUP get priority. That is just happening now because reasons.

Apple will deny that this is happening, but they can't hide when the customer base can see it happening.

Initially I was 11/17-11/24. I just updated my shipping address (as it was not moved yet so Apple allow you) and now they updated my order to be delivered "20 Nov, 2017 - 27 Nov, 2017 by Standard Shipping"

WFT???

Was in the 11/17-11/24 group. Went to my Apple store stood in line got what I wanted and cancelled my preorder! My AT&T Next upgrade reset immediately, so I was able to use that to purchase phone.
