Are you on the Next 12 plan? When I did the comparison, the amount AT&T is "forgiving me" by turning in my 6 Plus with 128GB was $10 more than Gazelle's offer. That's likely because the premium I paid for the Plus version and the extra memory is never recouped when resold. At least AT&T gives every phone the same percentage of the original cost when they give you credit for turning it in. This just proves every situation is different.

I've used Gazelle before and have a few suggestions. Ask AT&T to unlock your 6 so you can get the higher price from Gazelle for it. Last year they made me wait two week ostensibly so I couldn't return the new phone I was purchasing and get the unlock unjustly. After the two weeks is over, AT&T will unlock it and you'll have to restore it from iTunes to complete, so you'll need to wait before mailing no it off. Also, from my experience, Gazelle never gives you the Best condition price no mater how nice you think it is. Unless it's just been taken out of the box, expect to get the Good condition price.

Thanks. I think they will give me the price they promised. It is in great shape :)

Next year, I buy the phone and forget all this mumbo jumbo. Getting too old.

It is in the box and on the way. I did take out the sim card, as per their request. Sure would like to know exactly what data that card contains :)

Got my text message today saying mine was also received. Aside from the confusion with getting the return label and not being able to drop the phone off at a retail store the way we were initially told, this year's upgrade went relatively smooth.

I'm now wondering if AT&T will match Apple's program next year for annual upgraders. As it stands we are paying 12/20th's or 60% of the phone to use it for one year. Apple's new upgrade program lets you pay only 12/24th's or 50% of the phone for one year's use. They do require Apple Care that you have to pay for and also benefit from. I buy the AT&T mobile insurance since it includes loss and theft, but the over all monthly cost is more. Not sure if I'll switch next year or not. Having it all included in one bill is nice.

I've had nothing but a nightmare trying to do this. I was told by two different AT&T chat reps to return my iPhone 6 using the BuyBack program they have. I knew that wasn't right. So I got another rep that got me the proper shipping label.

How long do I have to return the old iPhone from when I upgraded? It's been a week and half alread. I will have it in the mail today. But I hope with all the run around I got last week it doesn't mess everything up.

Has anyone received a text saying that AT&T has received your old phone? My wife got a text last night saying they received her galaxy S5, but I still haven't got one for my iPhone 6 plus I sent in. I mailed both last Saturday.
Yes I got text saying they received it and it checks out good, and that the Next contract is completed.

They said you had two weeks, but in the "friendly reminder" text I received, it said I had until 10/21/15. I pre-ordered and received my 6s at launch.

did anyone have the normal tiny scratches on their phone they returned? i have a Note 3 that's almost paid off and not sure if i'm going to keep it or trade it in for a 6S+

I had several scratches that were only viewable in certain angles, but it returned just fine.

Mine had one 1/2 inch scratch on the screen I was worried about. No problem. If yours is chipped, cracked, dented, etc. I'd just sell it on ebay for good money.

The whole upgrade from 6 Plus to 6S Plus on NEXT 12 went pretty good I think. I ordered thru Apple Store (iOS) and they handled all the AT&T Next stuff well. The return was pretty simple dropping the same box off at the USPS. Took awhile for it to get back to AT&T and get the "all clear" on the return.

The two hassles I would say is

1) figuring out my upgrade eligibility on line. Figured out I needed to pay another installment to be eligible on the pre-order day. Made a payment on-line but that generically went to my bill; no way to tie it to the installment payment that I could find. Did a chat w AT&T and they credited my payment back then took a payment to confirm eligibility.

2) After the text that the returned iPhone is good to go, can't find anywhere in the billing that the return is credited to the old installment plan. Still shows on the Bill details. Guess I have to wait for the end of the billing cycle to know for sure.

Will probably stick with the NEXT process (but order thru APPLE).

1) I had to make an extra payment too. In the AT&T iOS app there was a way to make the payment directly to the Next installment plan. It gave the option to pay what was necessary to be eligible to upgrade or to pay off the installment plan completely. I did it this was and was immediately upgrade eligible.

2) Online, my old Next Plan and new one are both listed. The old one now says canceled and that there is no further amount due. But it makes no mention of the returned phone.

That's good to know for NEXT (sorry :) ) time for the iOS app.

Look at the full AT&T site under Billing/Bill Detail. Under Equipment Details mine still shows the balance on the installment plan - no mention of the returned phone anywhere.

Installment Plan ID: 1700000007xxx00 - Est. on 09/17/14
IPHONE 6 PLUS 64GB
Amount Financed:
$849.00

Installment 12 of 20
08/17
$42.45

Balance Remaining after Current Installment: $339.60

Installment 13 of 20

* Thank You for Upgrading - No further payments are due on the installment plan above.

I returned two iPhone 6's, one 16GB and one 64GB to the Corporate AT&T store with no issues. They used the Buyback program, so I basically got back all the money I paid on the two Next plans in order to the Trade-in Upgrade.

New billing cycle hit and they updated my old 6 Plus to fully paid off.

i had a small chunk missing out of the screen of my phone and they wouldn't let me return mine so i had to pay the $230 difference. i was very upset regrading the fact that they will refurbish it and put a new screen regardless. happen to anyone else?

My return instructions said no dents, chips, or cracks on the phone/screen from what I recall. I had a half inch scratch on the screen which they accepted no problem (was concerned it might be an issue). Next time if you have a damaged screen, I'd pay it off and then sell it on ebay; you'd be surprised how much you can get for damaged iPhones.

I was originally going to turn-in my 6 Plus to AT&T, but decided to keep it instead. I called AT&T about wanting to keep it, and the rep said I can do that. A case will be created and AT&T will contact me in 48-72 hours to get my payment. I haven't received that call yet though.
Well, I never got the call, so I'll just wait for them to bill me. I was able to sell my 6 Plus on Swappa for a very good price.

Received the text this morning...

They must be knee deep in IPhones.

I returned 2 phones via USPS using AT&T's provided labels on 10/8 and the tracking numbers still just say "Picked Up and Processed by Agent".

That's normal for (not too) Smart Post. It means it was passed off to UPS to deliver.

Ugh. Thanks. Meanwhile the clock is ticking on my return window before they charge me for the phones. Had I known it would be this slow I would have used my own fedex account.

Has anyone gotten charged yet for NOT returning their phone and if so what model iPhone do you have and what was the charge?
Was it just added to your bill?
