I said that the data remains resident ON THE CHIP for a week, unless you reset or otherwise wipe the device. The app logs the step data from the M7/M8 and keeps it IN STORAGE, even after it gets purged from the chip itself.

I have a step tracking app with close to year's worth of data on it. When I first installed the app, it automatically pulled up the step data from the previous week. That's how the M7 works. Not sure if the M8 keeps the same amount of data in memory.

I think surprise would be ruined if she goes poking through your Frequent Locations history. Which records and shows every location you visit on the map. It also shows the number of visits, date, and time spent at a location.

oh crap...didn't know about this myself. Good way to keep tabs on my kid when she gets older.
