Mine is still pretty much the same as before. With only a couple of exceptions my readings are between 10 and 20 minutes apart.

Mine is still every 10 minutes after the update
Mine is every 10 minutes if I'm resting. Sitting here watching tv for an hour or two it's every 10 minutes without fail. If I engage the Exercise/Activity app its several times every minute. If I'm just moving about, at work, out at the mall, etc., nothing. But I actually like it just like that. I'm just hoping whatever fix comes out for the others doesn't screw up ours.

Count me in for erratic hr recordings adter update...

Same issue here, pretty good before the update, very very random after. Today it only recorded the hr 5 times while wearing the watch all day.

One thing I realized is the fact that it seems to be less "sensitive". Before the update, even though it recorded at regular intervals, my HR shoed it dropped often below 60 and on occasion below 50. It actually did that when the watch was not well positioned on the wris as I wear my watch a tiny bit loose.

All the recordings after the update do not go that low. Also, if I tighten up the band, the recordings seem to be back on the normal schedule. It is very possible that Apple, willingly or not somehow changed the "sensitivity" of the hr monitor. As a result, as soon as you wear your watch with a fit a bit on the loose side, the emasurement does not take place.

There are 6 hours missing midday for me yesterday. Had the watch on the entire day.

Same thing for me. Many hours where the Watch stopped doing any HR reading/logging. It's rendered the fitness aspect of my Watch really useless for now. Pretty bummed as it worked perfectly prior to the update. :(

*edit*

It also didn't log about 2 miles of steps today (no workout enabled). That's not good...

I don't think so. I am wearing mine exactly the same way before and after the update. I was getting readings every 10 minutes without fail before, now it's like once or twice every two hours.

I am starting to think that the green LEDs are not being activated if the IR sensors fail to pickup a reading. That is how it was supposed to work according to Apples documentation and it was working that way prior to the update.

I did a walking workout today, and my average heart rate is blank in the Activities app on my phone. Just has a "-" (dash) symbol.

The heck is going on? I was so happy with 1.0. It worked great. Now the heart rate sensor software is broken, and my Watch turns on way too easily with the raise wrist feature. Just...sigh....

Oh, and today randomly my Watch would not get texting notifications - my phone would. After I read then on my phone my Watch would buzz and they'd appear on the Watch.

Just...not cool.

Another person with this issue reporting in. Before the update I'd get a measurement every 10 minutes and now it can be hours with nothing :(

It didn't log your HR or your step count?

Correct. Absolutely nothing there. I have the 2.12 mile walking workout with a minus sign "-" where the heart rate average should be, and the other 2-ish miles I walked without workout is simply not there.

Will upload the heart rate average missing screenshot...

I'm in Israel right now hence the time difference/network. Was doing a lot of casual walking around, too, so I'm irritated to all heck that 1.01 is so borked.

I wore my Watch since 11am Friday till about midnight Friday night/Saturday rollover, (right now it's 2:47am Saturday morning) and look at the heart rate data! USELESS.

To say the Apple Watch is useless as a fitness tracker now would actually be an understatement.

I did a 30 min indoor cycle, ended the workout on the watch, then took the watch off to take a shower. Noticed that the green heart rate monitor lights were still on a good 5 minutes after I took the watch off. Never noticed this happening before the update.

I had to restart the watch to shut the lights off. I don't know if I would have noticed this had I not taken the watch off, which is concerning as it would have burned through battery life.

I also noticed that on mine yesterday! I thought it seemed odd.

I just looked at mine again after first noticing this same problem. I discovered 5 readings per minute then a 10 min skip then another 4/5 readings. This repeated for an hour then it suddenly skipped any readings for 40 minutes. Something is seriously messed up. I imagine this is a battery life killer.

That is screwy. But, at least your BPM readings are somewhat close together. Mine, before and after the update, will occasionally throw me a 97bpm or 112bpm reading when I'm doing nothing athletically.

In the glance mode are you not supposed to be able manually start the heart rate monitor, I thought I was able to do this before.

I'm wondering if something's gone wrong between movement tracking and the hr tracking. Like another poster, when doing nothing the readings are taken every 10 minutes like clockwork, but as soon as I'm moving its like the watch forgets to take any readings at all.

Glad this is being picked up by the blogs... That'll get Apples attention if they weren't aware already.

What concerns me is that many of the commenters (eg on 9to5) think this is a great new intentional feature saving lots of battery. Surely they're wrong?

It's a definite bug in my eyes... And I'm getting the same problems as others.. Activity measured every 10 minutes when sat watching TV or lying in bed but as soon as I'm moving then nothing. As someone said I think the accelerometer is knocking out the HR monitor somehow. My exercise rings are non existent.
