It's can't be a "great" battery saving feature because my battery life is no better or worse. It might have 15 minutes impact but that's irrelevant.
Glad this is being picked up by the blogs... That'll get Apples attention if they weren't aware already.
What concerns me is that many of the commenters (eg on 9to5) think this is a great new intentional feature saving lots of battery. Surely they're wrong?
It's a definite bug in my eyes... And I'm getting the same problems as others.. Activity measured every 10 minutes when sat watching TV or lying in bed but as soon as I'm moving then nothing. As someone said I think the accelerometer is knocking out the HR monitor somehow. My exercise rings are non existent.
Whether an intentional change by apple or not, it doesn't work in a consistent manner like it used to, so it's definitely a bug.

That's a bit drastic and we shouldn't have to do that after Apple messes things up.
I agree. Mine is actually working correctly, or at least the way I want it to regarding the HR. But I went through the un-pair/re-pair dance for another issue and that was a big enough pain that I would never do it again unless I was having some major issue that I was certain would be corrected by doing this. To go through all that and then find it didn't help I'd lose what little hair I have left!
Yes! That too. Definitely not worth it for fairly minor issues.Definitely. Also, you lose your calibration data when you do the above.
Letting the watch go for another 90 minutes I had 2 skipped readings and a manual reading that gave me only 1 reading not the multiples I have been receiving. It satisfies me enough to say the issue is not the watch but the connection between the watch and the phone. If that is 'wonky' then the results will suffer. I am convinced that a phone reset and pair/re-pair after reset solves the issue. YMMV
One of the posts above states they are also having issues with steps not being counted... is anyone else having issues with their steps not being counted, or is it only the HR side of things?
2nd thing to note: to the guys that are showing multiple readings per minute, were you on the HR glance at that time?
Take my post with a grain of salt. When I put back my Watch on this morning, it synced the steps across correctly. However, today my Watch didn't get any heart rate data for 4 hours after I put it on, and then sporadically the rest of the day. So, heart rate data is incomplete for now, and steps sometimes take a bit of time to sync, for whatever reason..
I've had multiple readings per minute. And today on an actual workout - I usually get 6 readings per minute (once every 10 seconds as it's supposed to work). However, I'm getting some that are 4 readings per minute and then 9 readings the next minute etc. Just weird.
Here's one minute of my workout where it took 12 readings!
Thanks for reporting back williamG, I was trying to find your original post to quote but couldnt find it!
Glad to hear it doesnt affect the steps as well. I would've thought that was odd to have the accelerometer go down as well!
So I take it even though the steps may be a little bit slow to sync over to the phone health app they are still showing up in realtime/ quicker on the watch and iPhone activity app?

WowTalked to Apple this morning about this issue. They insisted it was hardware and therefore overnighting new watch.
Why do I have a bad feeling I'll still have the same issue this time tomorrow![]()
I just tested the glance readings and got multiples of four or five per minute. During workouts I get 12. At other times, for most hours there tend to be three normal readings, ie 10 mins apart then it might skip 20 or 30 minutes. Then there are occasional long intervals with a few hours missing. There's no pattern or logic to it.
Any official word from Apple?
We need a fix real bad. 1.0.1 appears to have messed up heart rate readings and notifications.
BTW, is there anyway to view heart rate date on a graph that shows a bit more data than what I think the Health app is capable of?
