I like the idea of foldable phones, but I don't trust their durability yet. Even when Apple makes it, I'll still give it years before I give it a chance.

Pulled the trigger on a z fold 4, watch 5 pro and galaxy buds pro 2. I don’t really care about android vs iOS since they have pretty much all of the same apps and capabilities. Looking forward to replacing my iPhone and iPad with one device.

First post is a long one...current Z Fold 3 and soon to be Z Fold 4 owner here. I owned every iPhone from the 4 through the 12 Pro Max and my entire ecosystem was Apple. TV, Watch, iPad mini, iMac, MacBook Pro, etc. I couldn't wait any longer for Apple to release a foldable so I took the plunge last year and instead of the boring year to year iPhone upgrade I bought the Z Fold 3 512GB. It is the best decision I have ever made, and the most impressive piece of tech I have owned. The multi-tasking alone is unbelievable. I'm a software developer and Android 12 has been more stable in day to day use for me than iOS 14 was. iOS has really been going downhill over the past 2-3 years. Every time I look at or have to use my wife's iPhone 13 Pro Max, I think to myself "the iPhone is just sad at this point". While foldable's are not for everyone, the Z Fold 3/4 are the perfect solution to anyone who uses both a smartphone and a tablet often. I used to switch back and forth from my iPhone to my iPad Mini all the time. Now I have two devices in one and the Fold fits comfortably in my pocket. The size and weight only took about a week to get used to, and now I actually prefer it over the extremely wide iPhone 12 Pro Max. The Z Fold 4 doesn't weigh that much more than the iPhone 13 Pro Max (23 grams) and you are getting a phone and tablet it one device. The crease disappears when you are viewing the main screen and is not an issue or eyesore (the iPhone notch bothered me way more). I will admit I am ready for it to go away though, and it will sooner than later. For those of you hung up on price, here is the closet comparison to the Z Fold 3 512GB: iPhone 13 Pro Max 512GB $1399 + iPad Mini 256GB Wi-Fi w/ cellular $799 = $2198. I paid $1650 for my Z Fold 3 after the launch day discounts. Therefore, the price for the Z Fold 3 is actually far less and again, you are getting two devices in one. I do not appreciate Tim Cook from an design/innovation standpoint because he does not care about either. Today, my only Apple product is my iMac. I'm hoping Apple will turn things around in the future and actually start innovating again. I love pre-Cook era Apple, I've met the "Woz", and I've owned Apple products since the 90's, so I am not some huge Android/Google/Samsung fan. For those of you who say you are trapped in the Apple ecosystem, I will be the first to tell you that you are not. That is a cop-out. It was an easy transition. While I do like my Buds Pros better than the outdated Air Pod Pros, the Galaxy Watch 4 is trash when it comes to the heart rate monitor, which is the only thing I use a smart watch for (only at the gym), and it cannot touch the Apple Watch. For those of you saying Foldable's are a gimmick, you are incorrect and you will be the first ones camping out at the Apple stores to get your hands on a foldable iPhone. Foldable's and Rollable's are the future. Mark my words. For those of you worried about durability, the Z Fold 3/4 screen is covered by the one year factory warranty from defects and also there is smartphone insurance that everyone should have anyway. If you are thinking about taking the plunge, I say do it. Most of the foldable haters have never even held one, let alone owned one, so do not listen to them. Anyway, I'm not here to argue, I just wanted to provide some info for those of you who are interested in foldable phones. I will never go back to a traditional slab phone again.

You will not regret it my friend.

What an honor. We aren’t usually visited by Samsung employees. :)

JK. Glad you’re enjoying your switch. I’ll continue to stay where I am. My ‘sad iPhone’ just works for me and can’t wait for September!!!

Yeah I’m here too. I truly do appreciate Samsung trying something different but Apple has me locked in. I’m not even sure how I could get away from it. Sucks because seems hardware innovation is happening elsewhere but I can’t leave lol.
Exactly how I feel.

Flexible screens, innovative hinge design/upgrade, vapour chambers thin enough to prevent throttling within the cpu/gpu/ram. Hardware design/choice is still with the competition.

Locked in not just by services, but how more and more applications are integrating into the OS.
Quick Note even by scanning a document (where text is searchable & auto indexed).
calling a number within a picture,
how similar functions and core vendor apps work well together.

Does all Android phones have a built-in indexing or iOS' Lookup equivalent?
What does Android use for Notes and can I encrypt/password protect a book or just a note? Are these sync'd to the cloud?
How does Health data compare to iPhone, how does Android WearOS/Watches compare feature for feature function by function of the top apps? Can I use an Apple Watch with Android 12+ ??! What features will work by attempting this?

Give me the 14 Pro with reasonable carrier 2y upgrade plans that don't bleed you on data $$$ (aka $90 price plan just to be eligible to upgrade, before taxes).

Nike+ S8/S7 Watch unsure.

Still pissed that AKG+Samsung got 24-bit Hi-Res audio before Apple did in the AirPods Pro 2 and yes this can be done over bluetooth and
Supported Codecs: Samsung Seamless Codec HiFi (Samsung Proprietary)
AAC, SBC.

Not sure a proprietary solution was the best option by Samsung here. there is already an approved standard for this.

The "ecosystem" argument is really weak. That's the first thing people say to avoid the question.

Google Photos: Runs on both, better than iCloud Photos
Google Drive: Same on both
Apple Music: Runs on both
Apple iCloud Mail & GMail: Works on both

In 2022 you don't need to be locked into the eCoSyStEm. It's a weak argument for people that won't just say I don't like anything not Apple. I have everything I need spanned across Mac, iOS, Android, & ChromeOS. I find this works nice and lets me take advantage of other products and tools.
Apple TV+ also works without Apple hardware! Watched it on my Windows desktop, through Firefox browser. However, the ATV app on my iPad was nice. If I had more storage, I would've considered downloading some content on there to have offline. I have an iPod Classic in storage, which also works with Windows.

I mean there are things like purchased apps that won’t transfer, iMessage, syncing apps across iPad and iPhone ect
For me, Apple Arcade would fall into this category. I had a lot of fun with my free trial, but I let my sub lapse. I'm enjoying the free time I got back from not being able to play it anymore, but I am open to resubbing, but likely through Costco at $45 annual. I'll live if I don't get AA back, but OTOH, I've spent $45 on the standard mobile stores in worse ways.

We’re so far behind. Foldable phones on Star Trek. Flying cars on the Jetsons. Get a move on, humans.
I really dug the "phones" they had on The Expanse. Display projects beyond the screen as holographic projects, you can flick the screen to project it onto a ship or station's larger screen. It's not revolutionary, but a strong evolutionary leap forward.

I had a Note 8 for 4 /1/2 years. Got a used Flip 3 about 4 months ago. Love it. Decided to go all the way and get the Fold 4. The deals Samsung is offering are pretty good in the US.
