Look at all the test results that weren't recorded.... No wonder there are so many iPhone bugs.
Perhaps that is a somewhat generic testing sticker for Apple prototypes, and those particular tests weren't relevant to that product.

Ever think of THAT possibility, eh?

Always SO ready to "find fault", aren't we?

i am not sure how is this news worthy....it's literally an ugly case that aims to hide stuff but mostly just make working w/ it harder. the phone here is nothing special, the original 6 plus, and dvt is the third phase of hardware testing (proto -> evt -> dvt -> pvt). it's possible that some of the components at this stage are not final; companies sometimes are still testing the final two choices of camera or baseband chip. usually u get an evt nine+ months before launch.

Whoever decided to blur out those numbers in the photos, forgot to blur out the barcodes and QR codes, which you can read using online tools, not to mention an actual hardware reader pointed at your screen.
Oh really? Laser-based barcode readers (read: most of them) will NOT read a barcode from a screen.

Camera-based ones will; but I would bet it just decodes to a "SKU" or internal-prototype ID# that would be meaningless without access to the database it belongs to.

When scanned, it reads "You Wish". Seriously.
Now THAT sounds like the Apple I know and love!!!

Time to go back to sarcasm school, defensive one...

Anyone know what "earth bound" would mean? Could it be as simple as "testing on ground level only?"

Earthbound is the non user-interface of Apple’s Burnin. BurnIN is codename for a diagnostics or a repair tool used by Apple.

If you are talking about the ORIGINAL iPhone and the ORIGINAL Apple Watch, there wouldn't have been an "Osbourne Effect" (which means that the CURRENT model sales TANK because people are waiting for the NEW model), simply because THERE WAS NO "CURRENT" MODEL!!!
Okay okay calm friend. Drop CAPS.

but that is the 4$?
It's the 6$ possibly

I get the points you guys are trying to make, but how do you know that the same people that hated the design ended up liking it later. The people that posted the comments on hating the 4, might not be the same people liking the design after the release.

That's true, but you know what he meant. We all have made the same kind of generic comment. E.g. "Apple fans dissed phablets until Apple did one."

Sure, maybe the haters were most vocal, but the ones who liked the design failed to speak up, and thus lost the ability to claim otherwise later on. Staying quiet is taken as tacit agreement on a forum.

That said, we all remember the iPhone 4 comments. Stuff like, "Apple would never do such an industrial design!" and "Ugh! It looks like a Zune!"

And he's right, years later it is often quoted as being people's favorite design.

Regards.

Would love to see how Apple responds to requests from the Border Patrol at the airports who are now making all travelers including US citizens unlock their phones for them to go through them.

This years new iPhone leak pics brought to you by the fascist folks at the US Government ;)

Wow look at the comments on the linked iPhone 4 leak article! It's funny that such a hated design is now considered the best ever iPhone design, talk about judging too soon
Nice pick up. Yes the comments make fun reading. I personally loved iPhone 4 from day 1, but lots of distaste for it in the forum. I wonder what can explain this, distaste for something new and fres, troll commenters, or something else.

One of the side effects of stealth cases like that is you don't get a real world scenario of how well the antenna works.

The iPhone 4 was disguised in a plastic 3GS lookalike case, so the field testers' hands never made contact with the antenna band. When it was finally released to the market, and into the hands of real users, you ended up with the whole "you're holding it wrong" fiasco, and the antenna band had to be redesigned for how people actually hold it.
That might have contributed to it. But remember all the fancy rooms where they did radio testing they showed in the event responding to the iPhone 4 antenna issue, I'm sure they didn't need to use any disguises when testing the phone in these chambers. Maybe too much of testing in these test chambers was without humans involved or the humans didn't use a wide enough array of hand holding positions.

where to you get that info? personally i like the iphone 6/7 design the best so far and i think im not alone.

I've run two polls over the past year. iPhone 4/4s has been voted most favorite on recent occasion, runner up is the 5/5s/SE models and vice versa the previous occasion, both very close competitors. iPhone 6/6s/7 however are completely some of the least favorites based on design.

Can we stop referencing a quote from 2012 re:secrecy. We get it, stuff is going to leak. It was 5 years ago give it a rest already!

Oh! the case that prevented Apple from knowing that the iPhone 4 dropped signal while it's in a human hand!

Every new iPhone design. The loudest at first are those who are upset Apple didn't design the "perfect" phone in their imagination. Then, everybody realizes the design was wonderful. The iPhone 6/6S design is just like that.

I'm impressed, this is actually interesting! One of the best articles here at MR in months!

Can somebody scan those bar codes and qr codes and post the results. Might reveal something even more saucy.
