While we're in the business of asking questions.
I'm planning on pre ordering tomorrow morning. I'm a VZW customer and the past few times I've done my upgrade through Verizon's web site. I pay the $199 to get out of my current phone early and they have the phone shipped to me. VZW then sends me a box and I ship my old phone back
This is sort of a hassle for me, and it's a bit of a convoluted story. I live in a state that charges sales tax, and work in one that doesn't. I usually have expensive things shipped to my office to avoid the sales tax. However, the building I work in closes at noon on a Friday and the FedEx driver never makes it here before noon. So I either have to wait in the parking lot for the FedEx guy, which is a royal PITA. Or not get my phone until Monday, which stinks.
So, my question. Can I do my upgrade through the Apple web site and chose to pick up the phone at the local Apple store? It's right down the road from my office and it's in the same sales tax free state.
I was reading somewhere else on the inter-WEBS that when you order the phone from the Apple web site and chose the carrier upgrade it's no different then ordering it straight from the carrier's web site. The deals/contract/etc are all the same and Apple is just a pass through or intermediary for the carrier.
I was hoping to order my phone through the Apple web site and schedule it for pickup at the local Apple store, negating the need to wait for the FedEx driver or until Monday. Anyone actually KNOW what the deal is?
I know this is a lot. Thanks for helping.
