Here's why I think I will cancel my i6+ order and get the 6

Spigen case ordered for the 6

:p:apple:

Did you cancel your iPhone 6 Plus order? In your initial post, you said you're *thinking* of doing so. Just curious if you've made a decision.

It is big, which is both a pro and a con at the same time.

I go back and forth on this. I don't see enough updates for the regular iPhone 6 to sell my iPhone 5c, but I can myself selling that for the IP6 but I'm worried its too big.

I'm using a 5C from work at the moment, and it's even noticeably slower than my old 5S. I understand it is basically a rewrapped 5 however.

I MISS TOUCH ID!!

:rolleyes::apple:

I'm getting the 6+

Might as well take a giant leap away from the familiar. At least I'm going to be surprised!

I'm completely with you on this. It is going to be something new and exciting. Hopefully I will not be disappointed. Just to make myself feel better I went to samsung store and took a look at Galaxy Note 3 (5.7 inches) and to my surprise it did not look as humongous as it seems. So the i6+ should be just fine.

Let's just say its 80/20 now leaning towards to 6. I'm reading more into the downscaling and not liking what I'm reading. Probably a non-issue, but weighing the other pros and cons FOR ME, I'd say its a done deal.

I do still have my order ongoing though for the Plus though, but plenty of time to cancel that.

One thing i read on some blog about screen sizes was interesting,
and it reflects exactly my situation.

I was not considering a new iPhone - have the iPhone 5 64GB and happy with it.

But then came the 5,5 inch screen and i reconsidered my usage scenario:

- iPad Air: Mostly YouTube and AirVideo at home from the server; only light usage of other more sophisticated apps. Safari/Chrome browsing of course...
- iPhone: Messaging; Mostly when on the road // not at home; some Apple TV remoting and streaming to Apple TV (via AirVideo).
- MacBook Air: Serious stuff at home and at work.

With the 6+ the iPad Air just has no real usage for me any more. I was considering the iPad mini for a time, but stuck with the Air. So i'm selling the 5 and the iPad Air => replace both with the 6+ 128GB.

This might not be a sensible choice... but i talked myself into this over the last couple of days  => so getting the 6+ as a personal :apple: game changer.

Maybe that's of help to some who are puzzled by the choice and are looking for a way to justify :p

Yesterday I hold the Sony phone of a friend of mine, he said it was 5", and it felt big. So I'm happy that I went with iPhone 6 and not 6+.

Pretty much the same thought process as most the people that ordered the 6 I guess. Personally the only thing i want from the plus is OIS. Everything else about the plus doesn't bother me at all, or is a negative (the size!).

Like I said in another thread, until they can pack OIS in to the 4.7" phone I'll just have to do without it.

Love big phones, love iOS. 6+ all day no regrets. The 6 didn't even come into contention.

I ordered a Spigen case for my 6 and it looks large to me but not so large that I'm keeping my 5. The 6+ would be too big for me especially for the instances I use it (like for music at the gym).

I really don;t understand why so many people are torn. There are devices out TODAY that you can go and hold that are almost the exact size of the Plus.

I am reading about all these people printing templates, etc. Just go hold and play with a phone. Seriously. Neither Windows Phone nor Android will burn your skin once you touch it. You will get a good idea if you can mess with the UI one-handed (as seems to be the litmus test for smartphones these days) and go from there.

Also, the pictures of phones many MANY times larger than they actually are poorly photoshopped to a screaming man's head are getting rather old.

Enjoy your new phones folks.

I like posts like this, it gives you a little insight into how people think. Its not an easy decision for sure is it too big, is the 6 too small. With only a few people actually seeing the phones its tough to say. I did print and cut out the size samples I found on the web. It was fine until someone at work caught me holding it to my head at least I wasn't talking in it...

For me it is all about size. I'm not trying to justify anything. The 6 plus is the flagship model and I would love to have the additional features and would spend the extra. However I just can't see using a phone that big or carrying it around in my pocket when I don't have a purse with me. I ordered the 6, but still would like to have those extras and wish the 6 came with them.

For those who use our phones a lot for a diversity of reasons, choosing the right phone does take some reflection. With the six plus, a stand and a bluetooth keyboard I will be set taking notes in meetings. My 15 macbook pro is often too large and cumbersome to carry in many situations so the size is great. I like to play games and watch movies on my phone and the lager size would be wonderful for that as well. Lastly, I like to read on my phone, especially documents when traveling from meeting to meeting. I will depend on a bluetooth device so I won't be holding the big phone up to my ear much.

The only thing that bothers me about the larger phone is I am uncomfortable thinking about using it for exercise, which would take away from many of the new health features it has. This stopped me from preordering. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I ordered the 6+ because I didn't want to be holding the 6 and wonder what having a bigger screen was like. And then every blurry picture I took with my 6 I'd be kicking myself. And when I got down to 5% battery I'd just toss it in the pond and go get the big one.

Having owned the Note 3 I can say that you get used to the size real quickly.

That's what I was saying in some other thread. People are just scared to try new things. Even if you got the 6 Plus and didn't like it, there are plenty of people who would love to pay you a lot of cash to get their hands on the iPhone. So you could actually make some extra cash from selling the phone you didn't like for more than you bought it, instead of cancelling pre-order.

For those who are still deciding and are on some sort of Apple device/computer right now, there are scaled up images of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus here. Just put your phone next to your screen and see the difference..

Size - I commute 4 days a week, and occasionally have to make calls. I think it's going to look daft making a call on that.

.....

Hope everyone is happy with what they purchase, I can see the plus suiting a lot of people out there, just don't think it's for me.

Why would you care how it looks? Don't think what others think about it.

Is it impossible for anyone who isn't capable of making a decision to just get them both and return their least favorite one? Is there a restocking fee?

What I personally fear: Lets say I get the iPhone 6+. Five days later I decide it is too big and want the regular version. I return the + model. At this point the regular model is out of stock and I'll have to wait for ages (where I live we usually get a tiny amount of iPhones).

I'm personally planning to buy both models from a retailer who has a special 30 day return policy on EVERYTHING, excluding software and opened CDs and DVDs. That means I can play with the phones until I'm sure.

And yes I could go and try how a 5.5" device feels etc. but I feel testing both phones for a couple of days gives me a better idea than that.

This debate is absurd. Different strokes for different folks. For me, the slightly larger screen will allow me to do many new things on the phone I carry all the time that I did not think was easy to do on the smaller screen. Moreover, I no longer need to own an iPad Mini which I used to read book during my commute. Games, notes and many new things will be more optimal on the larger screen. For those who value portability over all else then the 4.7" is fine but in that case, those folks should not be upgrading at all. The 6 is pretty big compared to the 5S.
So that is where the "smaller is better" argument falls flat on its face.

I had a phase where I was using the "big" phones. I owned a Note 2 (I really liked this one), then an LG G2, then I traded that for a Note 3 for a month (too blocky), went back to a LG G2, traded that again for a Note 3 before finally settling on a Moto X.

The Moto X is just about the same size as the iPhone 6 and honestly, it's been my favorite phone in a long time. The screens on the big phones are nice and you really can't knock the battery life (they are larger devices after all) but the Moto X was like a breath of fresh air after using the Note 3.

I'm starting to sound like an ad but bottom line is that I was still hesitant on which iPhone 6 to get. I've used big phones and liked them but in the end I went for the portability factor of the smaller phone. /blog

TL;DR - Use what you want. Try em both, pick the one you like best.

You'll look even more daft making a call on a phone whose battery has died. ;)
