The 6 is big in itself. It's going to be a world of difference from the 5 but in an portable, lightweight package. Elegant.

I'm hoping the next iteration has smaller top/bottom area and hope to trade up in a year.

I imagine Apple will do this at some point. Shrink the top/bottom bezels while retaining the same physical size of the phone. Screen will be "bigger" but not much else.

Personally the only thing i want from the plus is OIS. Everything else about the plus doesn't bother me at all, or is a negative (the size!).

Like I said in another thread, until they can pack OIS in to the 4.7" phone I'll just have to do without it.

That's my thing also. IF IF IF real world benchmarks/testing come in and this OIS is actually amazing in this phone - I'll reconsider but it has to be very palpable in real life.

6+ has less contrast ratio. I think it's 1300:1 vs. the 6 at 1400:1???? I never see this mentioned or discussed.

After watching a few more videos and reading up, I'm going to get the 6 I think and cancel my ordered plus.

Battery life on my 5S wasn't an issue, rarely went below 80% and I have chargers everywhere I go. The bedroom, kitchen, HiRise on my Mac, the car, desk at work. I even have a portable charger that I can take with me if I go out for the day and use GPS. That used to charge my 5S more than twice from nearly discharged.

OIS - real world usage, bet it won't make a difference apart from maybe low light situations- burst mode on my 5S always got me to pick a great shot

Resolution - Does the plus constantly downscale? It's going to take more processing power to push the extra pixels as well as the downscaling it will constantly have to do. Probably not noticeable however?

Size - I commute 4 days a week, and occasionally have to make calls. I think it's going to look daft making a call on that. 129g instead of 172g also.

That said, I'll reserve judgment till Friday when I can hold both in store. Also sways it for me that I have preordered for pickup the 6 for Friday yet the plus is nearly 4 weeks from being delivered. Oh and the £80 I'll save.

Hope everyone is happy with what they purchase, I can see the plus suiting a lot of people out there, just don't think it's for me.

No way. The 6+ is the way to go and I bet in a few months you are swapping.

It doesn't fit into people's arguments.

Just like how I don't take blurry pictures on my iPhone 4S and better stabilization has never been something I wished I had.

Cynics - Right. I have no issue with needing more stabilization with photos.... MY deal is I take video of dogs at dog events and like to zoom in during the video. So I do wonder if OIS will help in zoomed video situations. Technically it's supposed to? But in real world on a phone - IDK? IF - it's some very strong difference to the phone's video, I might reconsider but think I'll be cussing at the phone 24/7 for it's bulk.

Not to mention needing to buy a new winter coat with huge pockets.

I went to the O2 store yesterday and was shown some similar sized phones to the 6+, I stopped considering it there and then and pre ordered the 6.

Too large for me.

The reason for me opting for the 6 over the 6 plus is the fact that one; it had zero appeal from the start of the rumours and two; it seems unnecessarily big. It only has a 5.5" screen yet a phablet like the samsung Note 4 has a 5.7" screen but it's handset size, though a little wider is a lot shorter than the 6 Plus.

Of course I'd be lying if I said features like ois weren't cool, but then I've always been able to take great photos with my 5.

Anyway it's all personal pref, come friday everyone just enjoy your new phones, I know I will:cool:

I'm coming from the 4S, so the 6 was plenty of an upgrade for me. I really, REALLY wanted the 6+ but I even found the note 3 kind of large for ME.

In all fairness, it's only a two year commitment. I'll get the iPhone 7, which will wow me then. If I start to hate my 6, I do have options (albeit costly ones).

Both phones are new and fun. Enjoy your 5S, 6 or 6+.

Although, I am very much enjoying the 6 vs 6+ discussions. People fail to realize there is no wrong choice.

I also got the plus and am happy with my decision. Could I change my mind, sure, but I agree with one of the above posts that said it's the harder phone to get so best to get it ASAP and then make the decision. I expect I'll love it and only wish I could replace my iPad Air with it. However, I have unlimited data with my iPad Air and I use it daily with Slingbox over cellular for 1-2 hours per day and fear my data charges would be crazy if I used the plus instead. Anyone know if there's a way I can figure out how much data Slingbox uses on an hourly basis?

I thought about getting the 6 but I have been wanting a device that is close to my iPad mini retina and one that easily fits in my pocket and that I can work out with. I'm really glad that Apple had the balls to release the Plus. We all have better choices now.

I find it very interesting that people have such a need to defend their purchase and belittle someone else's in doing so.

Is it that hard to realize that there really isn't a right or wrong here? It's just a matter of preference. The iP6 really isn't that much bigger than my iP5, so I wanted to give the iP6+ a try. I like the fact that it has OIS and a better battery, but they weren't the end all in helping me decide on the phone. I just wanted to give a larger phone a shot.

If I'm super uncomfortable with it in my pocket for the next 2 weeks, I'll hope that I can find an Apple Store around me with enough stock in the iP6 for me to exchange it. If not, I'm fine with the decision I made.

The Note 2 was my first and only smartphone so far. Yeah, it's big, but I never found it too big. It fits in the pocket of my pants. Even with an Otterbox or battery case on it which adds significant bulk. It only gets in the way when I try to sit down. Pushing it to the side helps, but it still feels a bit brick-like. Never felt it was too heavy either. I can even use it one handed, just took a little pactice. No, I'm not a 7' mountain man with piano fingers. I'm a pretty darn average guy. Because of this and the fact that I use my phone as a mini tablet the vast majority of the time, getting the 6+ was a no-brainer.

That said, I could probably get a satisfying, if not outright good, experience with the smaller screen on the regular iPhone 6. It feels to me like a good compromise between size and portability. It in no way strikes me as being an inferior product, despite some specs being lower and some features missing.

I'm glad that we now have a choice. I got the Note 2 because the small size of the iPhone 5 display made it almost useless to me. Now I can have the best of both worlds. Samsung can keep the Note 4 that I was considering :D

I have been using a Galaxy Note 3 as a loaner and the phone sucks but the display size is what I need, I dont see me using a smaller phone. Iphone 6+ for me.

ATTN: This is why I switched from 6+ to 6

Read this to the end and understand it.

http://www.paintcodeapp.com/news/iphone-6-screens-demystified

The 6+ has a virtual resolution of 2208 × 1242 pixels to get a scaling factor of 3.
It will constantly down sample this content to fit 1920 x 1080.

You have to draw 23 virtual pixels to cover 20.
You cannot draw an exact line that appears like you intended on that display.

It will always downscale which is nearly free of GPU cycles but it will cost memory bandwidth.

Bummer.

Read it twice, spread the word. The 6Plus is a BAD compromise that Apple needed to make old Apps work.

They could not get an even crazier display to cover a scaling factor of 3, and they obviously did not want to change the resolutions of all the phones they are currently selling.

If you think the above is not important, you are dead wrong. It's really bad that Apple did not mention it at all.

I still say for me at least. Best solution will be 4.7 for the phone, and carry at least an ipad mini. Or any ipad for that matter. Done. But i could see how some ppl went with the 6 plus, to eliminate a need to carry an ipad altogether.

Yes, 6+ is bad. 6 is good. Get the smaller one. The bigger one is too big, upscales, can't text in one hand, can't fit in a pants pocket, I didn't like it, I couldn't afford it, so I didn't buy it. Neither should anyone else. It's a bad choice.

Did I get it all?

Not difficult to guess which one you went for, even without looking at your sig.

Was the image really necessary

Was the complaint?

C'mon, it was exaggerated to be funny. The pic made me chuckle, and I even have a 6+ on order that to my shock & horror will cause me undue suffering and affliction because of the early October delay in shipping.

You can basically get the Plus for $100 more.
Believe me when I tell you it's not about affording it.

It's just a bad compromise Apple pulled because they could only get a 1080p screen in large quantities.

Good for you.
I get someone out there will enjoy the phone that you never got to see in person, but are still judging to death.
