I’ve been enjoying this monster for the last few days. As others have said, it’s a bit of an acquired taste, but when you’re outside and it catches the light, I think it looks awesome. A few drawbacks though:
- Less comfortable than the normal double tours, the metal obviously has less ”give” than the normal leather, and as I like to wear my watch quite tightly, you do feel the effects if wearing for long periods of time
- If you don’t position it quite right when putting it on, you can end up with the metal part of the strap getting underneath part of the watch itself, especially when walking. This actually lead to the heart rate sensor not able to pickup my pulse on a walking workout. I had to adjust the strap quite a few times yesterday when trying to get this to work, but hopefully I’ll figure out a way to make this more reliable with time
- The metal of the strap being in contact with the watch means that notifications/taptics also vibrate the strap, meaning that Taptics feel more like they did on old (pre iphone 6S) iPhones, a kind of “buzzy“ noise
- Yet to see any scuffs on the watch itself from contact with the metal, but I’ll keep an eye on it
- The price is a bit crazy compared to the leather double tours, I’d say £600-£700 would be more reasonable, £850 is a bit hard to stomach!
