What????????????? I can't decide if you are serious or not....

Completely. I don't think I've *ever* had Flash crash on me. iTunes on Windows has a life expectancy that can be measured in minutes as well as breaking every UI convention I can think of.

Funny...I never use Flash on my Droid Milestone running Android 2.2, but that's just me.

You can watch all the flash videos you want with an iPhone, just download the Skyfire browser. Problem solved.

It isn't just about the videos. Plenty of menus (like restaurant menus!) use Flash, unfortunately.

Also, who can forget about all of those fun and informative, IN YOUR FACE banner advertisements?!!!! What would the interwebz be without them?!!!!

I prefer HTML5, it's faster on mobile devices and preserves your battery life.

I for one don't. Mobile Flash has to be one of the clunkiest/most overrated features ever.

Last I checked, it -- or more appropriately, their servers -- do not support ESPN3. I think they need an affiliation license in order to stream the content.

I just wish I could stream my sports, Flash be damned or not.

I do agree about the "Settings => Flash => On/Off" option, *if* Adobe/Apple ever decided to play nice.

Flash sucks on mobile device and HTML 5 views over 75% of the worlds videos now and growing fast. All videos by the end of this year should support HTML 5 also.

I think you are going to need to cite your source.

I just saw Flash running on a Droid X. Very impressive! I think it's time for Apple and Adobe to kiss and make up. It will be a few more years before HTML5 really takes off. Until then it sure would be nice to view Flash websites!
Ok, you saw it, but did you actually use it? Use it for an extended period? Use it on a variety of flash heavy websites?

I would have no problem with flash coming to the iOS system. What I would want though is a choice to have it turned off or turned on. Easy as that. This should make everyone happy!!!

Exactly. :)

This is what the jailbreak frash app does. It doesn't run any flash unless you tap on it.

Unfortunately Apples isn't going to go this way unless there is a mass uproar.

I didn't use it for an extended period but I did go to 6 or 7 websites. No problems. I'm a little surprised by the reaction of many of the commentors. If you don't want flash on your iOS device simply don't install it.

The folks here tend to be more on the techie side of things. My sister does care about Apple v Adobe squabbles. She just wants to know why the hell she can't view everything on her favorite websites.

If Adobe can demonstrate to Apple that they have addressed the performance issues in question then I fell that Apple should give the customers the choice to install a browser that supports flash.

Right or wrong, I have "adjusted" my iPhone browsing habits to avoid sites that are Flash-heavy. Know what? The internet is still just as alternatingly cool, lame, thrilling, exasperating, informative, and misleading as it always was. In other words, I don't miss a thing.

That said, if Apple can work it into iOS to their satisfaction, AND I've got an iOS version of ClickToFlash, I could care less if it's there or not...

Please don't speak for me. I don't want flash. It can die a fiery death as far as I'm concerned. Felt that way long before Jobs said anything.

How about making it usable on computers before attempting to put it on phones?

I turned off flash on firefox, yet my nose is still there.
I wouldn't be opposed if apple offered flash--if only to shut up the criers. However, apple would have to have an option to turn it off. Flash is usually more trouble than it's worth.
IMO, saying you don't want access to the internet that uses Flash, is like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

One of the reasons we have so much content in HTML5 right now is because iOS doesn't support it and all those sites knew they would be losing on a big market if they didn't offer a Flash-free alternative. If iOS starts supporting Flash they might just take the easy way out and not provide other alternatives.

So no, it's not as simple as "if you don't like Flash don't use it."

I'd be happy if Apple didn't support flash directly but instead allowed a flash enabled browser to be released into the app store (and by that I mean a browser with flash installed, not a server side thing like skyfire).
That way, if people wanted it, they would have the choice. Or if you were browsing and came across a flash site, just copy the URL, switch over to your flash enabled browser and ta-dah. People complain that flash drains the battery, but if you were to only use it occasionally.

Safari does not support downloads, so whenever I need to download something I just switch over to an app called filer. If only there was an app for flash.

On OSX and Windows after opening/closing a bunch of tabs using Firefox, after a while I would always have to force quit or task manager kill the browser. This was always a huge problem because the noticeable artifacts became worse and worse the more flash ads I loaded. First, the images would not load, then, I would have problems clicking links.

On my iPhone, I found I only bought and still use SkyFire to *QUICKLY* change the user-agent, not to actually view anything Flash, which is buggy at best.

I want the option to have flash. Another reason why I will probably be looking at an android phone in the future. I hate looking at those stupid little blocks.
