Going to have to buy the next one that comes out just for the reset on my series 5 watch battery life, but have skipped over the series 6 & 7.

I normally never do that. But things got very incremental and the whole shoehorn the larger display in was just weird. I was looking for a more modern looking watch, in line with the phone and Macs.

Apple won't be changing the shape next year. I bet it'll be exactly the same watch but with a new processor, better battery and a few new health sensors. And new colors.....

Currently have the s6. Just placed an order for the s7 for in-store pick up tomorrow and will take the advantage of apple’s generious extended holiday return policy and will decide by 1/8/2022.

I returned the SSG 7, sticking with my SG5, not a big enough upgrade for now. My 5 is 88% still gets me a days use, even on cellular streaming for 1 hour away from the phone.

The answer is complicated. Yes. I own an aluminum AW6 and purchased an Hermes AW7. The series 6 was my first AW. Now, it's officially been a year and I like it, I see myself wearing it often. So I went ahead and ordered the Hermes version AW7.

Normally I would not upgrade anything Apple so quickly, but this product, and the new Double Tour band is what pushed me to make the decision. The watch won't arrive until 11/22. But I've seen and tried it in stores, it's gorgeous.

After this new purchase, I intend to wait at least 2-3 years and only buy new bands in the interim.

I have a graphite stainless steel due to be delivered today. I’m gifting my AW6 to my wife, she has an AW5. My son will get hers.

Originally I said I wouldn’t but I did. I called myself being different and grabbed the blue 44mm AW6. I usually grab the Space Grey so I can do different things with the bands. My AW7 came today and I love the display and keyboard on the watch. Glad I did.

Doing the same. Initially I had no interest in upgrading my Ti S6, but my wife recently upgraded her S6 to the S7 and I really love the extra screen on the watch face. Though I placed an order online that will not come until December. Although I am checking the Apple Store app several times a day to see if my local store has an S7 SBTi available for pickup.

Actually pleasantly surprised - I bought my Series 6 in April, and knew I was “at risk” of being bummed by a Series 7 overhaul… nope! Feeling content with 6, and will keep it for at least another generation

All this said - I just think this is the way technology is going. I may be an anomaly on a message board filled with Apple fans (myself included!) but I have an iPhone 11 that I love and likely won’t replace until forced to (or until I see a screaming carrier deal!).
You are 100% right.

We go in different phases all the time. Sometimes NOTHING can make me upgrade my phone or my watch. But there are times (this year) that I'm all about change.

I don’t think it has anything worth the upgrade money/hassle of selling S6. And in at least in renders the new colors suck. Really weird decision to get rid of neutral silver and dark gray. It's not a phone, it's visible part of my outfit. And big chunk of my band collection wouldn’t suddenly match with the watch anymore.
Well my friend gave me a too good of a deal on my S6 so decided to upgrade after all. Time to store many of my lovely bands because they just don't fit anymore, like this Plum sport loop, clashes really bad with Midnight alum. Hopefully back to neutrals next year.

New screen is awesome though, even if it is a bit too warm and some watch faces like Pink Blast look really wrong now.

After a two week trial I decided that I really didn’t want to go back to the S6 display. YMMV

I am pretty pleased with the difference in the displays - it's quite noticeable.

FTR, I didn't plan to upgrade from my 6, even though I really loved the Starlight color and thought it would be a nice, subtle change since I am not a fan of gold, and especially not rosy gold.

Turned out, my oldest daughter wanted one to use as kind of a "family watch," and something to give her daughter to use in case of an emergency when she spends the night away from home, but she didn't want to buy a new watch. So she's paying me a bit for my 6, and I got the 7. Not regretting it.

I have no interest in placing an order and waiting. I bought an SS graphite last month directly from a store, tried it out and didn't like the idea of scratching it so easily. Returned it the next week. Checked yesterday and found two local Apple stores with full stock of SBTi and Natural Ti. Went with the SBTi milanese band which came with a dark grey sport band. Given some comments about the milanese scratching, I have only used the sport band for now. I have until after the new year to try out this configuration if I want to return :)
