Doing any of that would be a step backwards.
Why was the iPad successful? Because it was the first tablet with a mobile OS.
Having more features that makes it vastly more useful would be a "step backwards"?
Tablets are not meant to have desktop OS.
This doesn't mean anything. The only reason you need a crippled OS on a tablet is if you haven't figured out how to run a real OS on a tablet. Microsoft's been showing how it's done for years now. The idea was pretty obvious, really, and it's what I had hoped Apple was doing for the ORIGINAL iPad (though I realize the hardware wasn't quite there at the time to pull that off, arguably).
The two things I still want an iPad for are all related to using it to read. Apple offers the ability to lower the brightness (or at least simulate that) in reading "apps", and Marvel has an offline, tablet formatted unlimited reading app. Technically you can use the web site on a Surface, but I'd rather have the app.
Those are the only two reasons I'm considering another iPad over a Surface, but super disappointed they're not using real USB...
