Ah missed getting this app! Would have been so nice to be able to hide the stupid Apps like newstand from my iPhone. Why apple, why must you be this way!!!

The least Apple could do is make a "guest" log in option, where you can designate it only having access to limited apps that the main user can specify. Kind of like how you can look up information on the web with Siri while it's locked, but can't access anything beyond that.

I am really surprised they didn't implement something like this when the iPad came out since it's even more likely to be shared between people than an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Though not exactly the answer, there is Guided Access.

Man the app store reviewers have gotten slack. I remember back in the day when I would submit an app, it would get rejected because of crazy stuff like "if a user spins a spinner on a certain screen and clicks back while the spinner is still spinning, the application crashes."

And they should have rejected it for that. Any App that can crash from a very obvious thing like that should be rejected. Sure Apps do get approved all the time that do crash (though it is impossible to find every crash and bug) and I will admit their review process has gotten "lazy" it seems in some areas, but the problem you described is something most users would have found with ease and something they more than likely found really fast which is why it was rejected.

So i was able to grab the app before it was removed. Haven't messed around with it till today. The hiding stock apps works, however the disable all iAds does not work.

Also noticed that this does not hide EVERY stock app. I would like to get rid of the videos app as well as the iTunes app and contacts app

Obviously this app removed and i know Apple doesn't want you doing this. Maybe those apps would have flagged something in the approval process. Who knows.

EDIT: not sure if this was mentioned but it doesn't just hide the apps but makes then un-usable.

EX: app brings up a map and you try to get directions app, map app will not come up.

EX: click on the weather in the notification center and the weather app will not start up.

I would like to hear a legitimate reason why Apple is unwilling to allow us to remove apps that we don't want. I don't see this threatening security or anything. If they are concerned that we will permanently delete an app, it would be incredibly easy for them to just allow all stocks apps to be re-downloaded via the App Store. In fact, they could even push updates to these app separately, as has been the strategy on other OS's including OSX.

3 taps too much for you?

Nope. Its the simple fact that it is not a feature, rather a bug. This wasn't meant to be allowed. Apple obviously patched the original workaround, and then someone found this. This IS useful, however it is not a feature, and I see it getting patched eventually.

Edit: thought you were referring to the folder "trick". My bad!

There are a couple reasons.

They want to make as much money from you as possible.
They are stubborn and ignorant.
They don't care what YOU think, they cater to the idiots.

When I do it all the time, yes. It is annoying to have to constantly do it. I know it's been asked for, for years now. I am not alone in wanting this. Couple that with not being able to move newstand to a grouping and it's just death by a million cuts.

YouTube: video
Takes a couple tries to get the hang of it, but it works perfectly.

that doesn't work, the newsstand doesn't go from the third page to the first page, but it works from second page to first page but tats irrelevant bc it doesn't go in the folder.

well done macrumors, you've let EVERYONE down.

good job its still possible, best not tell you guys incase you blab to apple, again

If it doesn't get posted here, it gets posted elsewhere. At the end of the day apple still finds out, just maybe not as soon.

I missed the download, unfortunately.

This type of behavior on the part of Apple is really staring to irritate me. Ultimately, it's making me re-consider the Android/Samsung platform.

I love how you act like you're anonymous and this frustration defines you as a person.

Also, everyone knows who you are. Your name is right beside your post.

Forgive me in not fully understanding your reply. I don't believe that I was trying to be anonymous at any time during my post. That part at the end was for comedy's sake and nothing more. Thanks for briefing me on the layout of this forum though.

It does work. I did it on my phone and my iPad earlier. Youre probably not doing it right.
