Or here in the Americas, why stick to Asia, where it is clear the US has no true allies; except Japan.
Because for the most part, the Americas aren't that great at manufacturing and aren't terribly productive, dollar for dollar. Americas are good at R&D, not so good at manufacturing.

When I meant Americas, there is a whole continent other than the US and Canada. Also, just as Asia was developed by US companies, why can't the Americas? Long term investment and stable region as it has always been loyal to the US.

Sounds like the iPhone 14 Pro is getting a price hike.

Of course. The new and additional non Pro Max only exists to increase the price of the Pro line even further.

I miss those days when the latest iPhone was automatically the greatest and the previous generation simply dropped in price. Now we get those Non-Pro devices and the „Pro“ ones keep getting more expensive

I'm not sure which countries you'd like to use. Mexico already does a substantial amount of manufacturing as does Canada. Venezuela is a complete basket case. If you want to question human rights records, Brazil under Bolsonaro is all kids of fun to talk about, with corruption being rampant and the president being completely out of his mind. Colombia is mired in drug wars and civil strife between the government and the FARC (which went away then seems to keep coming back). Argentina has declared bankruptcy more times than most people change socks. Paraguay and Uruguay are likely too small in population to have a significant impact and Chile does some of this already but is also melting down a bit thanks to the pandemic. And central America, outside of Costa Rica is not exactly in great shape (drug wars, poverty, etc.). Costa Rica already does a fair bit of outsource work, but it's pretty tiny, geographically, not sure there's good places to put manufacturing plants. Hard to know which country one would like to pick in the Americas

You have 4 Central American countries, still have Panama. You missed Ecuador and Peru. All of these would happily make concessions in exchange for foreign investment and manufacturing.

Trueeee if phone costs 400 to make they should only charge us 400!!! or 300 or 200 or 100 or they should just give it to us for free!! we deserve it!!
There is more to hardware than cost of parts. There's the cost to assemble phones. Cost to ship phones. Cost to research and development all the technologies inside the phone. Cost to market. Cost to sell. Cost to keep lights and water running to all the retail stores and factories. There's the cost to hire lawyers to defend patents. There's cost to package phones. Theres cost to research and develop the packaging. There's cost to pay the tech support people you call when you have issues. There are the repair technicians......

No one is saying there should be no profit. But the premium Apple charges is ridiculous.
