I would totally get a white one of these (or all black if it's made) over getting a 5S, if it had better internals than the 5. I like the look of this more, rather than the two tone back of the 5.
This is exactly the kind of sh** you learn in business school never to do. Why release a brand new product that destroys the sales of your current products? There isn't room for keeping older phone models around at the same price point as this new thing - unless the plan is to never sell older models once the current one comes out and thus reduce inventory levels? It just seems plain silly to me.
But for some reason, a lot of people refuse to buy something that was produced a couple of years ago. The iPhone 4 isn't just low cost; it's old. There will be people who want a cheap iPhone that must be new. It doesn't really make sense because the same people would be fine buying an iMac that hasn't been refreshed for 1.5 years.
Imagine if Apple just leaked ideas and the rumor communities basically build the product for them.
I don't care for this design. I feel like the 3Gs was a more esthetically pleasing phone. Also felt more solid than any Samsung phone I've owned.
Edit: And yet, it won't steal much from the full-price iPhone. Because the people that are going to buy the newest iPhone want the newest, BEST iPhone.
this is top secret but i post it anyway

Apple already has a low-cost iPhone. The iPhone 4 is currently being sold for FREE (or, if you buy from AT&T, 1¢) and it can't get any cheaper than that.
I seriously doubt these rumors... but then again, I didn't think Apple was stupid enough to do what they did with iOS 7, so this could in fact be true.
(SHAREHOLDERS: Sell! Sell! Sell!)
My god those colors are hideous.
Exactly my point. A "new" $450 phone will sell significantly better than a 2-3 year old phone at the same price point.
