Nearly everyone has an iPhone or an iPod Touch these days. I had the iPhone but returned it after a month.

I'd rather have my Blackberry and an iPod Touch with T-mobile. I just couldn't stand AT&T's expensive bills.

80 a month isnt cheap. im an engineer and i have a hard time justifying it

thought about paying the etf and going cheaper for a while now as i really only use it for texting and calls...no apps ever

You'd be considered as rich as AIG. (Take that to mean whatever you want it to mean.)

I go to Imperial College London, loads of people have them including myself. I pay for my phone and stuff though people at IC do have a very high standard of living when considered with many other students in the UK.

Well I have a macbook and an iPhone 2G 8gig. My mom payed for my macbook and my dad payed for the iphone. My parents are divorced and im only 13 :p but me and my mom are having ALOT of trouble with the bills so for sure neither me or her are well off at all, and the funny part is my dad makes a little over a million a year, G3Y! Hopefully if we can survive (no kidding) for a few more years so I can go to college and start to earn myself a living, the child support thing could go into affect so I can at least afford college, none of my family both mom and dads side went to college and they are either lazy b*tches or just partiers, so I want to show my family that I won't be the same...this is just a little story on how people with iphones and macs arent rich and well off and that we should be appreciative of what we have :) I make the most out of both my items and plan to develop for them when i grow up. ^^ Also I got my macbook for my 12th bday in december07, how ironic is that since the recession started that month....boo.

Amazing how much value young people put into what others think of them, or how they are "considered".

Don't give me the diatribe on "you don't care", the subject of the thread wouldn't even cross your mind otherwise, let alone create actually post it.

ehhh whatever go pick up your social security check old man

im in high school and considered "upper class" by many, but im definitely not the only student with an iPhone.

Agh another one of these threads.

I'm 15. Phone+service is paid for by my parents. I don't feel guilty saying that either.

No, I don't consider myself well off... just not a responisble spender of my grant money. :p

But yea... I paid for the phone and go halfsies on the bill with teh mother. Although she's been absent for the bill the past two months... I might have to pull a Stewie on her.

~where's my money?

haa haa I just saw that one the other night..
I don't think the kids are well off, most of them have thier parents pay for it like other said. I don't even feel well off, if we didn't get a good tax return and the truck was almost paid off we wouldn't have them.

everyone and their moms have an iphone on campus~ (UC Davis)

totally different environment than September 2007

what's up my aggie brother

I agree, everyone does have an iPhone on campus. There's three in my apartment! I don't consider myself well off, either.

Also, below 16 is waaaay too young to have an iPhone, let alone a cell phone.

If your in HS/College with a iPhone and a 80 to 100 mo cell phone plan, which is about it for a iPhone. I wouldn't call it well off, your parents maybe, the kid is just spoiled :)

While I agree that people under 16, or even 18, shouldn't have iPhones, a cell phone is a good thing to have for parents who want to keep tabs on their kids.

You're only saying that because you didn't have a cool phone at age 16. I use all the features of it and then some.
Yeah....I also went from school to work (Intel, I had a cool job in High School) to home. That was it.

I dunno man, I just never needed to check my email all the time or be on the internet.

I'm in high school. I dress plainly, and don't care much about bling. So, ever since I can remember, people have thought of me as poor or less well off. That is until they came to my place and saw the gear I have. My hifi, my cameras, my 24" iMac (most people have never seen a screen that big), no matter which one they saw first, they all said I had to be loaded.
So you'd figure it'd be the same with the iPhone, which is just another expensive hi-tech gadget. It isn't. Aside from the monthly fees (€40), it didn't cost me anything, and it's the same for everyone, so lots of people that I know (for a fact) are very much less well off than me have one. And they're not afraid to show that they have one.
So, to answer the OP's question: No. People don't think I'm rich because I have an iPhone.
