Dunno about Pandas but those shots are what I'm expecting:

16372_super.jpg

this is what I'm picturing....it does look great, no doubt that its a fake but I hope the new look is similar if not the same to this.

although the black outer casing doesnt go with the rest of the lineup unfortunately.

You can see the outline of where the punched hole has been finished and the table through the tape. Whether it is an I/O port or not, there's definitely a hole. Look again.

you look again, the outline you refer to is of a raised object, not of an indent. look really closely.

if you still don't believe me, thats fine, but think logically. why would apple put a port so far forward, and what would it be when everything else has been accounted for?

whatever is being covered by that tape, I guarantee you, come tuesday, there will be no macbook pro with a port in that position.

What do you think about this design?

If that was the design / with or without a magnetic latch i'd definintely buy one. Actually who am I kidding. I'm definitely buying one anyway!

Whats the deal with the port for connecting an LCD? Have you guys figured out if it's got one?

Is a mini DV for camcorders or can it support screens? What about the whole HDMI and what is a Kensington port? (excuse my mac ignorance)

Surely it must be trapered design. As someone pointed out here; 'it's the way apple products are going'.

If it's as ugly as the two tone above I'll get a refurb lol

Battery latch?

Doesn't have to be an American key layout. I have a Japanese one, which has more keys in one place and less in another. So this could well be a Chinese one or whatever.

It is US keyboard layout, exactly the same as in Air. The keyboard with additional key (79 total) is ISO, or International English, or UK, or whatever it's called at the moment. It has an awful vertical enter by the way. I don't know about other layouts, but the one on the picture is US.

Seems quite straightforward to me, look at the symbols near the connectors.

The display port is obviously a MICRO-dvi connector as seen on the Macbook AIR, so not a MINI-DVI like in current macbook, you will need to buy a new adapter.

The first port is a mag-safe power connector (look at the symbol), rather than a fw800 port... so - assuming the taped port on the MBP15 case is a dual FW and not an e-sata - the MB13 would lack a firewire port, this will disappoint a lot of audio pros, sound engineer, musician, etc.

The mistery hole either is the IR port, or a new magsafe power adapter, this would change all my firewire speculations, but I don't believe that.

Also, mini-DVI is too large (bigger than USB). Micro-DVI is more likely.

No, it's not. It has the shape of mini-DVI and is smaller, but it doesn't make it micro-DVI. The latter actually looks more like mini-HDMI than mini-DVI:

Assuming the MBP case is for the 15", we haven't yet seen a 17" one, which presumably has room for at least one extra port.

The expresscard could be used for additional firewire ports, but is it possible to get a FW expresscard that doesn't require its own power brick?

Overall it's a shame that much of the speculation about the new models is about Apple being stingey over the ports.

indeed a strange connection (5th from left)

…

its an illusion. it looks like a little indent on the bottom RHS of the port hole but it is actually a reflection and not on the outside of the casing. the port hole is completely symmetrical

Can anyone who has managed to save these images please copy any new variants to another host please.

look on page 6!

All of this are prototype photos

Just imagine, all of this are prototype Photos. Apple makes a lot of them

HAve you ever think that? Maybe one or two of all the photos who have leaked is the true MACBOOK, we don't know ....

wait and you will see on tuesday

So I plug in my SD card reader

card_reader_-_sandisk_micromate_2.jpg

And boom

I drop one USB port and my network cable, or potentially the Mini-DVI

Seriously - would it be the end of the world to spread things about a bit SO WE CAN DAMN WELL USE THEM!

It's unreasonable to expect a laptop to cater for that huge reader above. Just buy a $1.99 cable. Solved.

Damn straight

can anyone tell me about the advantages fo this new nvidia chipset
the likely speeds + fs bus
kensington / mini dv ports (will there be HDMI)?

It looks like mini-DVI.

800px-Kobushi-mini-dvi.jpg

Nope, it does not. It has the same recessus in the upper front corner like on the shot I posted a while earlier in the thread.

As I said, looks like a mini-SCART connector

It doesn't offer any resemblance to the current display ports, as the hole is NOT square.

Can I get $10 virtual dollars if there is a hole in the case there though? :D
As I said, I don't know if it's a port but i'm 90% sure there is a hole in the case that the tape is covering up

If we're sure the hole's there, I think it might be a side latch to release part of the bottom i.e. the battery and /or hard drive enclosure or something like that. Thoughts?

you look again, the outline you refer to is of a raised object, not of an indent. look really closely.

Ah this is most likely. Some sort of eject latch. May I guess that whatever goes into that part (battery) has a spring-loaded pin that goes into that hole as well? :) This makes sense as the internal shot shows some sort of linkage to this point.
plinkoman, at least now you are agreeing that it's not simply a bit of tape. ;)

look on page 6!

Many thanks for the sarcastic eye-rolling. It was most helpful.

If you'll note I asked for any new variants. For example the post I quoted talks of a Macbook Air variant which is not on page 6.

I own the Apple desktop chicklet keyboard... Had to try it out.

Then I loaned it around to over two dozen people at work and they could only stand using it for 1 hour at most.

It's a really sad keyboard.

I prefer the Macbook/Air's chicklet keyboard actually. I find that the springy-ness allows me to type faster and more accurately. (110 WPM on my sister's MB vs 90 WPM on my MBP)

but there's no firewire on the Macbook ? Only the Maccrook Pro ? Yay for having to spend an extra $1000 for a feature that a $50 laptop would have. Apple are a bunch of crooks. Or they want everyone to buy their special apple converters for $250 a pop or something ?

Link to 50$ laptop with Firewire port?

Same reflection on two shots from different position?

I think it's a new connector *fingers crossed*

no dvi? no firewire? lower price?
could these connectors be outsourced to something like a docking station aka the brick?
and the little unknown port is the connector to this brick?
just speculating :D

PICTURES ARE STOLEN FROM HERE!!!

http://www.machome.com.cn/viewthrea...ilter=0&orderby=dateline&ascdesc=DESC

the new mb, mbp and mba will be:
1 plastic 13.3' MB(original MB case)
2 aluminum 13.3'MB
3 aluminum15.4'MBP
4 aluminum17.1'MBP
5 aluminum Macbook Air(C case changed)

apple adopts the "brick" tech, which makes the cases thicker, but more resistant. they're more resisitant than previous MBP case, and if they fall, there would be only some scratches not big problem.

Is that a dent about the cd drive on the right hand photo..Apple better make these cases strong. I really don't like what i've heard about dented macbook pro cases. This will be my first mac...My precious

Why would the Macbook not have Firewire?

Maybe this is just a pipe dream, but...

According to Wikipedia, there is a Firewire standard (S800T) that allows Firewire 800 over Ethernet.

Wikipedia said:
It provides the following improvements

  • A new port specification which provides 800 Mbit/s over the same RJ45 connectors with Category 5e cable which is specified in IEEE 802.3 clause 40 (gigabit Ethernet over copper twisted pair)
  • An automatic negotiation that allows the same port to connect to either IEEE Std 1394 or IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) devices.
  • Various minor updates to IEEE 1394b
Though the potential for a combined Ethernet and FireWire RJ45 port is intriguing, as of December 2007, there are no products or chipsets which include this capability.

So maybe we can now have Firewire 800 over Ethernet on the MacBooks, and Apple will give (sell) adapters to connect to conventional Firewire 400 and 800 ports? This would mean that we could use only Ethernet or Firewire at one time, but I could live with that.
