Just what device are we seeing in this picture?
I guess some people are beyond the realm of human reasoning.I have no idea! But there are several 16:9 fans in these forums
That's a pretty serious advantage, single-link DVI can only drive displays up to ~1920*1200 (24"-27") and Apple sells 30" screen which require dual-link.the only advantage is dual link (to full sized)
No reason for that wait, HDMI types A and C can be adapted to single-link DVI and type B can be adapted to dual-link DVI, they're electrically compatible and all, Apple could just use HDMI or DisplayPort and ship an adapter with the 'books.HDMI won't be on any of the laptops till it is on the displays (probably not till at least MWSF 09).
You do, or something that can be adapted to dual-link DVI (HDMI type B for instance)I thought you needed full-sized DVI for dual-link to power the 30-inch Cinema Display?
Here's my little analysis:
the display connector label (vertical line, rounded square, vertical line) is clearly visible, so this port is therre to connect an external display device. It's the shape of the mini DVI but smaller. The Macbook Air's micro DVI looks more like a standard USB connector. So why didn't they use the normal micro DVI? Maybe this thing is a dual link port so it can drive 30" displays.
EDIT: sorry for the "realease" typo.

Makes sense for Apple to include HDMI on the new MBP now for the launch of new HDMI-equipped Cinema Displays at MWSF '09.

Anyone remember this patent?
All the port are now on the left side of the MacBook's according to this article...
Coincidence?
I'd love it to be true!
How about merging this idea with ACD and The new TV Rumor
Cool, but not happening probably, though I wouldn't put it past them.
I'd say these are accurate. I mean really... one could CREATE that themselves?![]()
For instance, or because it's pretty much the step up from HDMI, which is the step up from DVI, and you can convert down to HDMI or DVI from DisplayPort.Whywould be supporting it? Because NIVIDA ?
sliding your macbook into the computer would never happen. think of all the problems that come with that.
moving on...

9to5mac impliied that lst week, you might be on to something. If they had the test models so far ahead of time, they would have to know what they lookedlike
Why are you participating in these forums then if you want less spoilers? Simply want some but not too many?personally, I would rather allow apple the ability to keep this secret until the notebook event to announce.
kinda sucks to have the design spoiled.
I understand the need to try and figure out of there will be some new technology, ie graphics chips or blu-ray.
but at some point the rumors are a bit much. why spoil the surprise. i don't mind waiting on the design part.
How could that possibly be the the new MB? The optical drive slot on the computer in the pic is in the front. The bezel pics posted at the top of this thread show the optical drive on the side. http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=139081&d=1223802372
True with the current system - my wrong... I agree that if apple decide to release HDMI displays at MWSF 09 then it would make sense for them to release HDMI laptops now, but (1) What's with the placement on the case, lack of a hole from the inside? (2) Why not just release a slight refresh in Feb/March so that all the maniacs who just bought a new MBP now have to go get a HDMI one in 6 months when the next update is? and (3) What if the weird port is "mini-HDMI"?
Now I may be wrong - but I believe the new port will allow direct connection to the Hadron Collider.
Unhelpfully as always,
MH
What about this:

<snip>
That could explain the "new models". But, it's too big to be released this soon. Althoug I would buy it immediately...![]()
