Hmmm... This is rather exciting! Say, any chance of one of those mysterious ports being a MINI HDMI PORT!?! Looks quite possible!

http://www.optimization-world.com/img/prod/hdmi_to_mini_hdmi.jpg

no, the shape is completely different, the mini-hdmi port is very thin while the mistery display port is nearly square.
I'm fairly certain there's no substantial difference in port height between Mini-DVI and real DVI.

I just checked and there isn't any, but including the screws the DVI port is more than 3 times as wide as the mini-DVI one.

Hdmi?

This port is certainly not DVI, Mini DVI, or Micro DVI. It also seems like it is not wide enough to be HDMI and it doesn't look like it fits DisplayPort either! Does anyone know what this port is?

Upon further inspection, it seems like it is Mini DVI. Sorry :). However, I hope this picture is (or I am) wrong. People won't be too happy if they cannot power their 30" displays with their MBP.

if i am just saying something wrong please correct me but i am wondering if that port covered by tape could be an HDMI out???

thanks

any chance it is a mini usb?

well well.....i guess with no usb on the right I must have the wire of the mouse all over....excellent!!!!
Erm.. no, you just get it around the back, that's what current macbook users do you know...

why?

it is supposed to be a glass trackpad...

why glass...doesn't make sense what is the advantage...unless its a screen? i t cant be for the feel...i like the touch's screen more than the iphones glass screen.

For those looking for a desktop replacement for media on the go, this aspect ratio might become the popular choice. You can do a lot with the extra width and reduced height, and you don't get the black bars with movies. Full screen real estate is used.

Like hell. The overwhelming majority of films intended for theatrical release are shot in 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 (There are a few others, but those are the main players), which is still letterboxed on a 16:9 display.

Widescreen TV shows and made for TV movies are the obvious exception here.

Exactly my thoughts...

Well, you know umm, I really like to see something new on the MBA.. I do not really care if it will have a glass trackpad or a normal one as long as it will be at least updated....

yeah it would be in an extremely weird place..but i suppose it is possible...glimmer of hope...but doesnt seem to fit

Actually, knowing Apple… they probably didn't forget, they just don't care.

i havent read through all of the pages, so sorry if it's a repeat...

has anyone seen this picture from that macX.cn site?

I am sorry my friend, I don't have answer for that... :(;)

The footprint is a bit smaller and it allows for a wider machine (the AW series has a numerical keypad to fill the space).
This is nonsense, either the 16/9 is as high as the 16/10 screen and therefore wider, or it is smaller (shorter) and therefore around the same width, but in any case this is unrelated to having a keypad or not.

On what ground exactly?
you don't get the black bars with movies.
Wow I'm completely impressed.

Not.
Maybe the same will happen with 16:9, who knows.
No, 16/9 was already an established format when 16/10 got started on computers, and the computer industry is currently standardized on 16/10 for everything that isn't 4/3, even display ports capacities (such as HDMI or DisplayPort) are expressed in terms of achievable 16/10 resolution. 16/10 is already the post-4/3 standard. Note that 16/10 was chosen to allow the reading of two pages of text side by side.

I assume. But whats the metal on the trackpad? Or is that photoshopped?

Or does it mean the mb/mbp has something the mba doesnt, trackpad-wise? or vice versa?

I haven't the faintest idear.

slowpoe: Nothing is wrong with 1080p...for video resolutions. I'd much rather have a higher-than-1080p resolution in more of the MBP's besides just the 17"

Give me a 15.4" MBP @ 1920x1200 please.

You can get a wireless mouse from Apple.
It's only 69$.

Of course you aren't one of these cheapskates finding a mere 69$ too much, are you? :p

I know from my girlfriends Macbook....it is true but I think non accectable on e Pro....

well i already have both a wire and wireless mighty mouse but why not having the option to use both on the pro?

do you think the unknown port is a mini-USB?

i was wondering what that was..odd..maybe they are making the air a pilot for ideas they are thinking of initaiting...is that a touchscreen...no...glass... could be nothing

It's probably glass. Frosted on the back with a silver backing would make it blend with the case quite well, too.

oh shoot i feel like i missed something...what did i say?

No, no no you said nothing inappropriate. Accept my apologies I didn't state it well. I wanted to say that I do not know. I already changed it. English is not my first language.. Sorry.

wouldn't that make the print insanely small? not sure they would do that :(

I don't know, having all my crap plugged at the right of the computer would mean having a lot of cable-mess there, and since I'm usually mousing right there when I'm on a desk with my 'book I'd be mousing in the cables, making things... painful.

no no my bad :) no problems

SO I can't buy the new Maccrook ? Instead I have to buy an old computer with a faulty video card for more money than the new computer, with better specs. All because Apple couldn't put 1 firewire port on their new Maccrook. They sell all this software ; Logic, Final Cut, etc that need firewire, yet they don't even support it themself ? Imovie is worthless now.

Now instead of for sure buying a Maccrook and probably being with Macs for a longtime, I'm at a crossroads. I was saving/holding out to buy a Mac laptop for a while and now I have to consider a PC no matter how bad Vista is. Apple used to market towards the creative artist and "act" like they cared about costumers. I wish they never released the Ipod-Iphone, personally. Now all they care about is raping people out of as much money as possible.

what are you talking about? If you are a creative artist just get a machine with enough horse power (read mbp). You are not the target market of the macbook. Apple's vision of the macbook is a cheap mac that runs os x decently. It was never geared towards "creative artists".

That's valid, fair enough.
