I think the best to do guys is to wait tomorrow:cool:,
it's very strange to think about the fact that Apple didnt build any firewire on his MB ! This pictures could be fake ... Let just see tomorrow. It ll be fun ! :D

You don't understand! ITS 36 HOURS!

Gotta keep the atmosphere light. Take things too seriously and all the fun is gone :p

Of course!

Why hasn't anyone thought that these pictures arent even real?

EDIT: Of course my post spawns a new page :p

A match?

So I guess the clamps and screw posts on the new top case photo match well with the previously leaked bottom case photos. Looks like we can look forward to a user-replaceable hard drive!

The Event Is Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:d:d:d

what you think?

Ok guys here is what I think is going to happen...

there will no longer be macbooks, macbook air's, and macbook pro's....
come Tuesday, macbook airs and macbook's will be the only remaining notebook names. There will just be a very large line of MacBook's they (at the higher price points) will have more "MacBook Pro" like features.

And also, the port at the bottom that everyone is wandering about...well it is a port for sure..it will be used quick docking to the upcoming apple displays this next January. It will allow the notebooks to slide smoothly into the side of the display. It will be epic.

I don't understand why people keep saying that consumers do not need firewire. I'm most definitely not a pro user and I use the firewire port all the time for my camcorder and external drive.

Both my DV camcorder from a few years ago and my brand new HDV camcorder can only transfer video via firewire. I'm sure that some people will never find a use for the firewire port, but anyone who wants to do the most basic video editing from a DV camcorder needs it.

I suppose firewire through the ethernet port would work, but it would be nice to have a dedicated FW400 or FW800 connection.

As a few others have said, I'd rather have Apple leave out ethernet (which I think I've only used on a single occasion in two years) and put FW in its place.

I cannot see why apple would remove ethernet. It is a hugely used port, even more so than firewire. Removing firewire would be the same for creative people as removing ethernet would be for networking people.

backwords compatable?

And also...I don't get what the big deal is with all this firewire talk...

It is going to be backwards compatable so i'm sure that along with the new notebooks, apple will be releasing a cable or adapter of some kind that will allow the firewire 800 to turn into firewire 400 (and the relatively small number of people that use it, unfortunately, will just have to buy it unless apple decides to be awesome and include them with every computer.)

No way is Ethernet going to be dropped. That would simply make even less sense than dropping Firewire. Ethernet is the building block of networking, along with WiFi.

There's no way any standard student (a big customer base for MB) and profesional would not use the most standard and widespread connection.

most of the talk is about the MacBook not having Firewire at all.

Its just that people dont want to pay $700-$1500 more just to be able to use their laptop for their given profession that needs firewire.

Geez...Im posting like crazy..might get to 6502 in the next few days:D maybe even 6502a!

EDIT: DANG, richthomas...you sir are fast!

Leaks

Looks great! Very thin. Glad they did away with the latch. ENOUGH LEAKS though I want a nice surprise on Tuesday...Let's Rock was very predictable and I hope this event doesn't turn out the same way. Apple needs to do a better job keeping everything secured. Back in the day we had no idea when and what would be announced and now it's just gotten ridiculous.

@ everyone:

I think Apple is letting all this shizz fly because they have something pretty big up their sleeves. They aren't going to mind a bunch of obsessed fanatics like us clambering over an obvious laptop update. The invite did say laptops, but hey, so what?

Huh? Its on the 14th...tomorrow is the 13th...? I'm not sure what Time Zone you're in buddy :p (I'm in Pacific Time Zone)

It's the 13th were I am. Sweden. 6.52 AM.

The event is tomorrow 7.00 PM (19:00) here. It's still 36 hours and 5 mins away though. =)

Sorry, this thread shoots down your theory entirely.

Yeah, I see your points. I'd rather the MB just have both connections, but based on the picture it looks like FW is going to be dropped from the MB.

Unfortunately my friend, I think that we, atleast in comparison to ALL of apple's customers, are two of few who use the firewire 400...

that is why i think apple will sell an adapter (since the firewire 800 port is backwards compatible) to those few of us who need the firewire 400..

I know that. I'm just stating that people will have to buy a $19.99 adapter for any laptop (be that macbook or macbook pro) that will convert the firewire 800/1600 port to a firewire 400..

That's fine for the MBP in these pics, but the based on the leaked images, it doesn't look like the MB will have any FW connection, 400 or 800.
