No, I mean new FW adapter.

MBP will go with the fw1600/3200 port but the MB has something different at it's only FW400 (like it is now).

ok,

are there already devices that use FW1600 or more? Is it the same FW-port than 400? I doubt it cause there was a difference betwee a FW 400 and FW800 port too..

heres the case with the air's trackpad and keyboard superimposed on. im a noob at photoshop so the gradients are messed up. stupid healing brush tool doesnt work the way it should!!

I don't know why, but I don't think they would use that keyboard for the MBP.
I have no idea wich one they'll use, but I think the black one gets with the new MB's

I don't know of any devices that use FW1600 or more, but a FW 1600 port should be backward compatible with FW400+ and it would be a good way to future proof the firewire

I think you're dreaming. That has to be a MacBook not a Pro. The MacBook will NOT have ExpressCard expansion. Looks like Apple sold out..again!!!

No Firewire on Macbook and no eSATA or DisplayPort on either machine.

there is mini-dvi on both and eSATA can be attained through expresscard (no way apple was going to add that one on it's own)

as for firewire on the MacBook... I don't get it, it's a better standard, and one that they created, yet it seems they're trying to pretend it doesn't exist these days.

alright its way too late, this is my last post tonight, i need some sleep.

As far fetched as it is that the 15" macbook would have an express card slot i think its far more of a stretch that the MBP wont have firewire.

Honestly, whats steve going to announce on stage?

Faster!
Better graphics!
New case design!
less ports!
virtually a bigger macbook with a grahics card!

this just isnt adding up. I'm sure we'll have more gasoline to pour on the fire tomorrow, but i'm considering staying off macrumors till tuesday because i dont want this to be like "lets rock" was- boring and predictable.

Complete guess here: Aluminum chicklets for the Pro?

i'm liking the docking possibilities

display out looks like trimmed down micro-dvi? could it work in conjunction with usb for 30" cinema displays?

what is the taped up hole on mbp? someone identified round hole next to it as probably the IR. too wide and wrong place for esata? pros wouldn't want pop-out remote?...

IMO the new MB looks similar to the old one, just in an aluminium housing. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I don't think they'll produce a consumer Notebook without Firewire; they've got iMovie and iDVD for consumers, e.g. many DV-Camcorders need Firewire. They brought the USB-to-LAN-thingy on the MacBook Air, what if it is not a LAN port but FW800 on the MacBook?

Besides - I don't know if it is possible (technically), but how about a USB-FW-adapter?

Already discovered that Apple has posted a document related to the late 2008 MB/MBP as Apple will call them-describing Airport card installation:
http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Misc/Inserts/073-1223-A.pdf

The documents is a reminder on installing the Airport card and it'snow located in the display asssembly, and is much smaller than before.

It's not on a password protected site-the "inserts" folder is viewable by anyone.

fw400 has a 6-pin connector. fw800/1600/3200 all have the same 9-pin connector. They are all backward and forward compatible with each other, but you will need a physical adapter to change 6-pin to 9-pin, and 9-pin to 6-pin.

okay i lied, one more. Your post really reminds me of when apple was about more than processor speed and the amount of ram, etc. We loved them because they DID push better or newer technology, like firewire, i remember when i could synch my ipod with Firewire and a bunch of my PC friends couldnt, they'd always ask how i'd sync so fast. lol

its just things like that where i feel like apple, in terms of their computers, are focusing more on innovation in design, and staying current on specs than they are pioneering new technologies like they once did. I mean unless theres alot more that we dont know right now, really whats the big deal? No eSATA, no FireWire, no BluRay, no HDMI, no DisplayPort, STILL not card reader, i mean honestly would on SDHC slot hurt?

or even features that others dont have like a glass trackpad, or something like that... true innovation.

I really dont expect apple to put all those things in, i dont, but theres no excuse to have NONE of them.
