not every country has daylight savings. as a matter of fact it is a US thing and of all the countries i have been to America is the only one that used that.
Anyways it is already 0751 here in Japan and no update so, no, they are not releasing per time zone. would be nice though, that is the first thing i did when i woke up this morning was check.
Daylight savings is the dumbest and most annoying concept ever.
Twice a year the entire population has to run around like idiots and adjust billions of clock radios, microwave ovens, wristwatches, car clocks and umpteen other just so we can collectively fool ourselves into believing that the time isn't really the time. How about we all arbitrarily pretend that it's 10 years ago, we'll all be so much younger... yep, it's 1998, because I said so.
Here in Holland (Netherlands) its 1:04 AM Friday.
Nothing to see here![]()
When has Europe ever gotten anything from Apple first? I recall a thread somewhere with a bunch of pissed off Americans that Europe got some product first but can't remember exactly what it was.

Well... I was born and raised in northern Sweden, a stone's throw from the Arctic Circle. In June, the sun would set at 11:45 PM and rise at 12:15 AM. When you have 24 hours of daylight and 23.5 hours of sun, nap time is whenever you pull down the blinds, and DST is little more than a cruel joke. Why sleep while it's still light out? And why wake up when it's still dark?
I am pretty sure they got the iphone first. I even remember companies sending people over there to get their hands on them. They had pics up before our stores were even open yet and people even had it taken apart.
Linux?

Ummm are you sure? the iPhone was launched June 29 07 and I am pretty certain the next place it was launched was England months after. I could be wrong.
But you assume that the rest of the world is also on Daylight Savings Time, which the Southern Hemisphere isn't. Hence why I referenced AEST: Australian Eastern Standard Time, e.g. Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra. Currently they are GMT +9 (at least until October/November). So while we're on DST, they aren't, and vice versa.

Hey, I didn't assume anything. I specifically said I was speaking only for the US. But, as someone correctly pointed out Arizona and a bunch of territories don't use DST either.

Oh, well the 3G was available in NZ first if i remember correctly. Although it was available in the USA the same day.
That's correct, although personally I think it's a good sign that they're focusing on stability and performance rather than features. That's exactly what they're doing with the next version of OS X as well. If Apple wants to live up to the "it just works" moniker, they can't keep cramming in new features, they must first make sure that whatever they already have is virtually flawless. From reading all the posts there isn't much hope in some type of earth shattering add on coming with this new software, just bug fixes mostly?
You can add Hawaii to that list as well. They do not change times.
Wait ... isn't Hawaii a U.S. territory?

AEST is current for all eastern states, which is GMT+10
In summer most eastern states go to AEDST which is +11, while Queensland remains on AEST for the entire year.
GMT+9 is not in Australia.
