Hmm.. so will 2.1 be available at 12:01 am?

IT'S NOW 5:30 AM ON THE EAST COAST ,USA!

(I'm guessing that Apple is waiting until business hours in Cupertino so that if they have a problem with the servers, they will have all of their employees in the office to work on the problem)

Just checked for the update at 5am EST and nothing... I'm probably going home for lunch and will try it then.
 
The good folks at Apple are probably shipping massive cooling fans to their servers in preparation of the firmware release.

Their server technicians have probably been frantically fanning the servers prior to the release. Panicking and stressing about the strain that 'Steve' is putting on their systems.

The firmware software engineers are probably panicking about how the software will be received by the end users. Whether it will function to within a 98 percent range (2% error rate). Their husbands, wives & life partners are stressing that if the firmware has a 'high end-user error rate' that their loved ones bonus and or job will be at risk. This close to Christmas and in the current financial climate the risk of job cuts hits the home hard.

And then there's me. Joe bloggs. Wanting to text within a couple of minutes rather than wait for the delayed letters to flash up on my iphone causing me to mistype etc.

Hmmm... I guess I could wait another couple of hours till those guys n gals at apple are ready. Just a couple mind you. :rolleyes:

Me, i really need the phone part of the iphone so NO! dam i'm waiting to see if theres anything bad with 2.1

There's nothing bad according to Touch owners, however if you feel like waiting please do so...at least that'd be one less person hammering the servers

Ha, I got you beat. Haven't gone to bed yet at all. This is reminiscent of launch day. It's going to be an interesting morningzzzzzz.......Watch out, folks. Because I decided to pull an all-nighter, Apple will surely not push the GO button on the update until 2359. PDT. :rolleyes:
 
Jeez - we still waiting for someone to wake up late in Cupertino for breakfast, then flick the switch on this one? Or are some of us going to have to wait till Saturday local time? :rolleyes:
 
I'm fairly certain, that in the UK, the last update was at about 1am the day after the official release date.

So, whatever time it is released in Apple Mac Land, adjust for time difference

Oh well, couple of hours, or over the weekend won't be too taxing, and it isn't like there are too many Touchs running around with 2.1 yet either.
 
While we're all sitting here waiting ... let's talk about Steve Jobs' health. Does anyone know his health status these days? Obviously, we all know he is alive, and we all saw him on stage a few days ago, so we know he can walk and talk. But what is going on that we can't see?

You mean PM, I defnatly remember starting updating at around 2pm of 2.0 day, And not being able to use my iphone till 5/6PM...

Great, woke up at 6 for no reason, have to leave soon with a dreadfully laggy Iphone :(..... unless..... (clicked on check for update just now) DAMN IT!!!
