Hmm.. so will 2.1 be available at 12:01 am?

While we are waiting... Question about updating

For the first time since getting my iPhone (original) I didn't upgrade to the latest version -- 2.0.2. In iTunes I see "Update" which, when clicked, always tries to install 2.0.2. It used to be that I would click that button and it would search for the new version...

So, the question is, has anyone been through an update this way and did iTunes simply alert you when the update was available?
 
I think they should've released it midnight...pay someone to do a night shift and watch the servers, that way, we geeks get it between 12.00-3.00am. Regular (informed) consumers can would start downloading it around 7 am when they wake up to check emails, sync their iPhones etc and all others would get it when they get home from work in the evening.

Servers won't get hammered that way and everyone will be happy but now its probably coming during peak hours when EVERYONE would be on high alert. Good luck Apple, you'll need it.

I'm bored of waiting now...i even woke up early. Gonna shower and grab a late brekkie

One problem, there is more than one midnight! but i do get what your saying.
 
Cmon seriously, Steve is really milking this 2.1 update for everything its worth. Like most geeks here I went to sleep late and woke up early just to get this update.

And for those folks thinking "well this guy is out of his mind", not really because I just want my phone to work like it was suppose to work on 7/11/08 when I stood on line for 6 hours, since thats all this update is "supposed" to be.

Anyone else have their iPhone hooked up to their Mac/PC clicking on check for update?

EDIT: OMG i just checked one last time b4 heading for the bathroom and...IT'S HERE!. I'm shaking with excitement

Woo! It's out! Can't wait to update and use the genius playlists. ;) Well not really. But if I get a bit more battery life and more stable wifi and 3G I'll be happy.
