Hmm.. so will 2.1 be available at 12:01 am?

i'm really confused as to what everyone thinks is going to happen (including myself). Is someone really going to be sat in the apple office between 12am and 8am just waiting to push a button to upload this?
Why have i not left the house yet?! (1pm here in uk) It's really silly. I'm sure it wont be up before 9am PST if not later. Who works at this sort of time?

It is indeed now 5am in California but there is no chance that they will release anything before office hours (so there are staff on hand to deal with any problems, press etc.). So, at the least we're going to wait another 4 hours.
But, as has been said before, the best indicator of release time is the previous iPhone updates which were (apparently) in the californian afternoon.
So,
Americans: expect it to appear when you go home after work on Friday.
Europeans: expect it Saturday morning.
Australians: expect it Saturday afternoon/evening.
As an Australian myself, it is always frustrating knowing that whenever there is an announcement about a release or keynote that is happening - whatever the advertised day, I always have to wait an extra day... (or so it seems).
But, as has been said before, the best indicator of release time is the previous iPhone updates which were (apparently) in the californian afternoon.

No one really needs to work this time to make it available. They could simply setup a cron job to run and midnight and make the necessary updates.
And to answer your question, working in a business level software support job my team does.
Saying all that, I really didn't expect Apple to really have it available at midnight. I expect like other are saying, it will be later today.

A great reason to not go to work today. Hop back in bed and take a nap. When you wake up, 2.1 will be ready.

That's... uh... 11 PM (ugh!) central European.
Nope, unacceptable. I will kill one hostage every hour until 2.1 is released.

I swear to god...if they didnt fix the echo in phone calls, either its my phone or firmware...never had echo's in calls before 2.0.2...fn pissing me off...they have 2.1 and than i am calling apple and i will DEMAND a replacement phone...really really pissing me off.

And let's not turn a perfectly happy iPhone thread into a political thread. We get enough with the ads we see on TV ruining our broadcasts.
I was hoping I'd wake up to 2.1... I love the smell of 2.1 in the morning... Oh well. Maybe it'll come after I'm done with all of my classes and before I'm drinking. There's at least a half hour time span in there.
