Macrumors staff : This seems to be a more widespread issue, could you run an article to get Apple more involved? Thanks!

Ugh how is this still not fixed. I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem though. For something as important as security cameras, how was this not immediately identified and fixed?? ??‍♀️

According to Apple System Status all services are working

My cameras are showing up fine right now in iOS. On my MBP, while looking at my favorites, all 6 cameras are black. When I click on any individual camera they go live, but when I close it I get the same "all black" view.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Also having the same issue among multiple iPhones and Macs accessing the same Home

I've been troubleshooting this for a few hours now and just decided to see if it was Apple and not me. This thread makes it seem like that's the case. Having the issue across all of my devices, and have been since sometime last week.

Why has Apple not fixed the problem , been ongoing for days now
Or can we expect a iOS update later today

Worst advice! By signing out of my MacBook... all of my freaking devices were logged out of iTunes/Apple. Now I'm in recovery hell. Asking for PINs and crap that my phone would usually have pop-up. Now I don't have 'Home' on any device... nor Keychain/etc! Really bummed.

Yeah, signing out of iCloud is a pain in the ass. I've also read a few places that it only seems to help temporarily. Thus, I'd advise against it.

If everybody could please reach out to Apple support about this, it would help. They may not know it's an issue yet if they haven't gotten any reports.

I submitted a case to Apple support, and have been asked to provide them logs and such. I suggest if you have time, you should submit a case too. The more eyes on this, the better.

Also, to the folks who have not experienced the issue on their MBP M1 or any M1 device, don't reboot it. Cause if you perform the reboot, it might replicate the "now" issue, or that's what seemed to have happened on my MBP M1.

I reported this over to Apple and apparently there was a note from their engineers that resetting network settings (which wipes all wifi passwords and known networks) and removing cameras and resetting them up will do the trick. I decided to opt from resetting network settings and just removed the cameras and re-added them in and they seem to work now. How long will this last? Probably not long but it’s the only solve I see in sight…

think this is Apple engineer nonsense. I did all these things like signing out of iCloud, resetting network settings, removing and re-adding cams, removing HomePod and re-installing home app... all lasted until the next iPhone power cycle. I share my home with my families phones and iPads, and all devices are now having the issue... none of them is refreshing the thumbnails. Same on my 2015 Macbook. So whatever we do, it will come back until Apple fixes that.

Had the same issue …
Disconnect from icloud (it will remove all home information). Then reconnect with your apple id. It now works for me on all my devices.

Have you rebooted your device since doing that? Everything I've read says that the issue will come back once you reboot.

I just had to reconnect a few cameras in HomeKit after previous network issues. The thumbnails on my iPhone were working properly with the newly connected cameras. I did a hard reboot on the iPhone to test and the thumbnails continued to work properly. I’ll keep an eye on them and wait a few days before I go around and reconnect all my cameras. Gonna be a huge PITA so I don’t want to waste my time if this is just a temporary fix.

I would hold off. For me it was only temporary.

So, I got impatient as a test, and since I have no automations or anything linked to my cameras, I removed them and re-added them to HomeKit. Thumbnails are now updating, but still no notifications on motion.

Anybody else seeing an issue with notifications in addition to / instead of the thumbnail issue?
