Too much wasted potential if they kill him now.. Won't be shocking enough. He could last another two seasons at least.

FYI, originally (from what I've read) he was not supposed to last past Season 1, but his character was just too compelling, plus Showtime pressured the producers after seeing all those Emmys. ;)

He was also supposed to die in episode 7 or 8 last season! At this point they should just keep him till the final season haha.

All this talk about Brody's death. This show always seems to surprise me, but I just don't see how you have a show without Brody. Carrie is a strong lead, but her character's position in the CIA seems to be dependent on the fact that she alone can motivate, relate to, and get thru to... Brody. If Brody were to die, I think her value to the CIA takes a major hit and she becomes a liability. No Brody, no Carrie... no show!

Season 2 Spoiler!

I think all of the Homeland fans consider Brody a significant part of the story including myself. Fighting terrorists is one thing, but he brings a compelling angle to the series. I just wonder how long they can keep him going and I really don't want to see him expire. If he survives Iran, he could become involved in future ops, I can imagine that. But in a realistic scenario, what he has going against him is the known attempted assassination of the V.P. And then there are those on the other side who know he was involved in the successful termination.

I have to ask this again: Am I losing my mind or do you guys remember when Quinn at the Gettysburg bomb maker's shop shot fellow team makers and faked his own injury? Has there been any reference to this in the show since? I still wonder what his angle was/is. Is he dirty, involved in something like moving Brody's car before it kaboomed?

I honestly don't remember this at all. I remember things going crazy at the tailor shop when the terrorists came in to recover stuff. I don't remember Quinn shooting his own guys though.

exactly. i kept waiting for something else.

going to be odd next season losing some key members.

I kept waiting for something unexpected too. For next year, fingers crossed Saul is still there, but I've not read anything about it. I always hate the last show of the season, because typically there are no teasers for what is coming next. ;)

i don't see it. lockhart will never have saul back. if he ever would, it would of been after the iran nuke thing passing thru javardi. he is in the private sector in nyc now...the way carrie turned around and watched him leave the building, written off the show. sucks.

i am very curious about quinn though...

Personally i feel it is proving much better show then Dexter. Last season was not up to my expectation of Dexter.

Finale spoiler: That felt more like a series finale. It seemed out of place to get rid of Brody now. Maybe they'll come back with another great terrorist plot next year but I think Homeland reached its peak in seasons 1-2. 3 could have used more Brody subplots if they knew from the beginning he'd be killed in the final episode. Hell, I was waiting for the hanging to have been faked and Brody to be alive at the end of the time jump. :( at what could have been next season with Brody and Carrie.

Dexter Seasons 1&2 were the ultimate. Downhill from there.

Aparantly I had some kind of mental episode with Quinn, thinking he was a bad guy from events in Gettysburg.

Season 3 Final Spoiler!

I was also wondering if they somehow faked the hanging. If so, I'm not sure how I'd feel about it, because I like Brody but it would strike me as one of those cheap TV tricks to mess with viewer emotions.

Like most of you have said, the finale was not at all what I expected. However, despite my previous post saying I couldn't understand how they could maintain a show without Brody, the more I thought about it, I also don't understand how they could have brought Brody back. I mean, what would he have done? It seemed pretty clear he didn't want to "work" for the CIA anymore and there's no way he and Carrie get married and become the "perfect family". It did really begin to feel, for me, like his character's story arc and impact on the show had "run its course".

Now, as for Saul. I think the private sector thing could be a way to keep him on the show. He's now outside of the CIA which can be both good and bad, no red tape, but no official governmental authority. I don't know where they will go from here, but as usual, I suspect they will surprise me and that I will enjoy the ride immensely. :D

I think the most surprising thing about the finale for me was that in the "4 months later" postlude they didn't give any kind of nod or update on Brody's family. I thought they might at least have a brief scene of someone, possibly Carrie herself, notifying his wife and son.

I agree that although he was trusted to go on an Iran mission by Saul (which after previous events, I did not see that as realistic, but was able to overlook it) he was still poison to the CIA and the U.S. Government. I also wonder if Brody's family just got written out of the story? Assumptions are dangerous, my guess is yes, but ya never know. ;)

Easy enough to explain. They stage a public hanging so Javhadi is promoted then reveal him to be back after the nuclear cooperation. Or keep him in hiding again...

What about the Brody son....

When Carrie got called in to the operations room at the end, Im thinking they were going to show footage of Brody. I didnt expect a time lapse, and her drawing a star on the wall. We have to understand that it would have been real hard to come close to last weeks episode, and maybe they thought that since most of us were thinking Brody/explosion/Saul returning would happen, the best thing to do is to end it low key. It really did feel more like a series finale, rather than season finale. I just hope Saul returns for season 4.
