No option of in-store pick up in my area in Sydney - orders are now "delivery 23-31 December"...
If you're near the city, the George Street store has stock.
It's not listed on their website as pick up but they have HomePod Minis available for walk-ins. I just went in and grabbed two white minis an hour ago (1pm) and they had plenty of stock.

Same here in London.... delivery January...

So annoying, I preordered as soon as the site reopened and my order is expected 17th - 19th Nov. I'm Sydney-based. Currently 'Preparing to ship', so I'm assuming they will arrive tomorrow.
Just got my text, delivery tomorrow. I wonder if anyone in Aus got their online order delivered today.

So mine is now showing shipped with tntexpess.
Shows collection Erskine Park I’m in SW Sydney so hopefully I get it tomorrow. Still pretty annoying Apple couldn’t get it here on release day with 9 days notice 🤷
Also the pending transaction on my credit card vanished on Friday and nothing is showing up. I’ve no doubt it will come back but it’s still a little weird.

edit as soon as I hit post I got a email from Apple saying delivery tomorrow.

Congrats to everyone who ordered one and now receiving them. The HomePod series is too limited in functionality for me, but I'm glad that there are those for who the HomePod line is a good fit. Enjoy! Let us know what the first track/album is that you listen to on it.

Too bad it is not available in Norway or Sweden or Denmark or other 100+countries. I don't understand why Apple doesn't want HomePod to succeed.

Cool, but my Alexas understand me without too much repeat ... I love my iPhones but rarely ever use Siri because of how inaccurate she is ... Alexa is so much better ...and cheaper ... boys have an Alexa with video in their room for less than $50 ...

Haha. Your tomorrow would be my (us) launch day. Agree though I’m in the same boat - mine will most likely ship tomorrow with arrival on the day after launch.

I think Siri understands words the best. However I think Siri knows words the least, meaning you have to be super specific with the way you say something, making it the worst user experience.

Nobody else sees an illustration of group sex in that logo? From right to left, it looks like.... I don't think I can say more than that on this site. But it jumped out at me.

Reminicent of marketing back in the 70s and 80s. There were several brands using the word "sex" hidden in photos, and designs that could be seen a certain way.

HomePod mini launch day is officially underway in countries such as Australia and Japan, where the calendar has already turned to November 16, and the first orders are beginning to arrive to customers. Track your shipment in the MacRumors forums.

Instagram user shiology shared a photo of the white HomePod mini and its box.

Daniel Feodoroff was one of the first customers in the world to purchase a HomePod mini at an Apple Store in Miranda, Australia.

Priced at $99, the HomePod mini is a more budget friendly competitor to the Amazon Echo and Google Home, while still offering many features of the full-size HomePod, including Siri, HomeKit, Apple Music, Intercom voice messaging, and stereo pairing. HomePod mini is equipped with the same S5 chip as the Apple Watch Series 5, enabling "computational audio," and many reviewers have been impressed by the speaker's sound quality.

HomePod mini is also launching in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Some third party retailers in Australia have some stock. Picked this up today at The Good Guys. Winning.

It would have been even better if it had a battery in it (that would hotspot from the connected phone)
No, no it would not. That would make it substantially larger, heavier, and more expensive - because batteries aren’t magic, they occupy space, have mass, and cost money - more of all 3 if they last for a non-trivial amount of time (and if they put a tiny battery in it, you’d just complain it didn’t last long enough).

There are literally thousands of battery powered Bluetooth speakers designed to be carried around, go get one of those and stop trying to ruin the Mini for those of us who want a small and comparatively inexpensive HomePod Mini to, you know, keep at home - like the name says. Lots of people, want these to sit on tables, desks, shelves, or counters, where your desired batteries would be useless and wasteful.

It has USB-C - if you really want it portable, you’re welcome to take it, and any USB-C battery pack anywhere with you.

I want to want one, but my HomePod was so useless for my needs. My cheapo Alexa can do so much more for less. But like the Apple Pencil, I want one despite it not being right for me.
