Yup. Apple products generally don’t really need the extra insurance, because they typically don’t experience to many hardware issues traditionally, but the Apple Watch is the one product I would recommend AppleCare for obvious reasons.
Exactly because the MacBook Pro's never have issues. MacBook screens are always perfect. MacBook logic boards never die. MacBook keyboards are always perfect. Customers never crack screens. Customers never drop their MacBooks or spill things on them.

Well, it will now work with a any USB-C power bank! Buy one according to the power/battery life you need. If you need a portable HomePod you’re set.
As a person with a few USB-C power banks of varying size, I wish everything under a certain power level requirement had a USB-C option! :)
Does the USB-C cord allow for audio or just power? USB power means a lot of flexibility. I do wish the cable wasn’t “integrated” but I know Apple prioritized durability for the OG HomePod so port longevity may have been a concern.
I WISH you could connect it to a laptop for bigger sound. Heck, get two because I’ve got 4 USB-C ports!
Sarcasm? I ask because the cord was visible in the presentation
They also showed a breakdown of the internals and I was like, “Ok, soooo, where’s the battery?” Saw the cord in a later scene.

It's not an "excuse" why it should be detachable. It's a reason. And, are you telling me you never had an Apple cable break? Because I've had a dozen break over the years.

Maybe cables that you tote around and travel with and move from room to room. But stationary electronic devices don't need detachable power cords. I've never had a cord on a TV or toaster or blender or paper shredder or clock or hundreds of other things break or wear out, EVER.

Actually, A couple of members actually pointed out that the cord was actually really well hidden during the presentation, leading some to believe that maybe it was wireless at first. But that’s just Apples marketing at its finest Of what they don’t want you to see.
As a person who's affiliated with a tech company and advertises their products showing power cords are a no no when it comes to presenting products. It's not about deceiving consumers (because we all know you're just picking on Apple purposely) it's about a clean look for presentation sake. If the customer is going to assume something runs on battery just because they don't see a cord then the customer is not doing themselves any favors in terms of being a smart shopper. Anyone buying tech products should do their homework, otherwise they are foolish with their money.

Let me get this straight, Apple includes a charger with this but not with the expensive iphones. Hmm, I thought Apple was trying to save the environment by not shipping wall chargers since we all have so many of them?
I, for one, am glad they did as I have no usb-c devices (iPhone 11, iPad Pro (2nd gen) and a 2015 rMBP) And, though money is very tight for me, I am seriously considering an AirPod mini. Not everyone has loads of usb-c cables and adapters laying around.

It wasn’t too well hidden, but I do agree that if someone didn’t want to see the cord, they likely wouldn’t see it. I was actually looking for it, so I saw it.

Interesting that this comes with a Power adapter but iPhone will not. Ridiculous! 🤣

Apple sells more phones than pods. So more ewaste from phones.Last week my kids bought me a new phone. I didn’t even remove the charger, headphones or cable from the box. Why? I have at least 3 sets of these lying around the house unused. And that’s just apple chargers.... I have a whole lot more from other electronic devices.
The average home today has way more of these things than they use.

I'm not the guy you're replying to but after over 25 years of using Apple products exclusively I had NEVER ONCE had an Apple cable break. Other 3rd party cables, YES, but Apple cables, never.

History has proven that cables wear, break and need to be replaced sooner than the devices they power. Having a non-replaceable cable means you have to buy a whole new device, instead of simply replacing the cable.
Oh please. Give me a break. People will be ready to upgrade to another speaker years before the cable breaks. You guys will come up with all sorts of nonsense as long as it's about Apple.

Lots of ways. You move it around from time to time. You move things to dust. You trip over the cable. Your cat gets into mischief.

how do you even break a power cord moving an Electronic equipment to dust??? Trip over it?? What?....why would you have a power cord or ANY cord in a walk path?? Cat mischief?? Ok now you are just being ridiculous

I saw the cord right away.

No need to insult indeed. No offense meant, my apologies. But I’m sure they just did it for profit, people will end buying a charger, either from apple or from a third party. And they know it.
I hope you realize the contradiction in your own post. There's no way Apple will make any profits if customers buy 3rd party chargers.

As others have pointed out, the adapters people have are mostly USB A. They can use these with their new phones because they already have USB A to Lightning cables, but they’d be no use with this.

It’s a shame they’re including the power adaptor rather than taking the environment into consideration.

A lot of people don’t think too much about it, they just jump on Apple with the complaint du jour. They don’t bother to think that unlike iPhone, you’re not replacing a previous HomePod mini. And if you buy three or four, you don’t have that many anyway.

No i’m not. Cords are subject to wear and tear. They are actually the most common part to break. Apple Geniuses hand them out like candy because people are constantly bringing in cables. And apple’s are notoriously fragile.

Just checked the keynote presentation again. I immediately saw the cord. I just love how people pretend that Apple tried to hide it in order to deceive people. I'll bet 100% of the people calling Apple out haven't gone back to the video to check it out. You guys need to stop, seriously. It's getting embarrassing.

Then you’ve been very lucky. Heck, I have a ziploc bag full right here waiting to go back to the apple store once they reopen here. They wear out at the connector ends, and the plastic sheath comes off, sometimes causing shorts. It always happened to magsafe connectors, and it happens now with their lightning and usb-c cables.

in fact, that’s why the rumors about them offering new cables with a weaved covering are so interesting.
