Yuck on this.
The other smaller cylindrical design was better.
Wouldn’t get either way.
Siri is still the worst.
Way better than the echo ball tho.

In addition to sharing what appear to be official images of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, reputable leaker Evan Blass today has shared images of what he claims is the widely-rumored "HomePod mini" in black and white.

While the existing HomePod has a rounded, cylindrical design, it appears that the HomePod mini will feature a more spherical design, with a similar mesh finish available in black or white. A flatter top surface will house touch controls for volume, playback, and more, and a large multicolored light will appear when Siri has been activated.

Last week, a reliable leaker who goes by the alias "Kang" claimed that the HomePod mini will be announced alongside the iPhone 12 lineup at Apple's event today, with orders to begin in mid-November for $99. The speaker will allegedly be 3.3 inches tall, compared to the existing 6.8-inch HomePod, and be powered by the same S5 chip as the Apple Watch Series 5.

These look like the candle holder on your table in an Italian restaurant.

I was thinking that if the Homepod Mini ends up sounding unusually good for its size then at the rumoured 3.5" tall and able to accept music over Airplay rather than Bluetooth it might be a very interesting alternative to all those really small mostly rubbish Bluetooth travel speakers for people wanting better quality from a portable system when on holiday. The Homepod Mini would need to be powered, probably from a power bank assuming it takes USB power input, but that's OK for me at least because I always travel with a power bank anyway. With that use case in mind I hope this isn't the design because spherical things aren't particularly space efficient when trying to pack stuff into a case as tightly as possible. The previously rumoured cylindrical design would have been more space-efficient to pack in a case.

Unlikely... I hope the new PlayStation 5 has an Apple TV app so that I can have iTunes movies which I paid for and a serious console in one device, and not wait any longer for that new never coming Apple TV.
What are you waiting for in an upgraded Apple TV?

Everyone with toddlers or dogs at home know that thing will be confused for a ball to play with.

Honestly I like how the regular HomePod looks, but this I’m not impressed by.. it just looks like one of those small Bluetooth speakers people buy when their laptop speakers break

This looks like amazon's new Echo devices.

The cylindrical smart speaker shape really grew on me. I hated them originally but I grew to like the speaker shape a lot. Hopefully this new round smart speaker shape grows on me b/c I'm not currently a fan.
